My 2017 On Steemit - A Tip For New Users - My Job on Steemit - 2018 Expectations

I created my Steemit account back in March 2017, and bought my first STEEM a few days later. I bought some STEEM because the idea of rewarding users for creating content, had my interest, unlike many other coins that just seemed to transfer from one address to another. I bought around 800 STEEM that night. I think the price was at 0.40 $, maybe a bit lower. I immediately started blogging, and stupid was I. Blogging about crypto, steem, etc because, you know, that was what was trending, and still is. I didn't enjoy it. Actually, I hated it, as I was writing about stuff I had no idea of compared to others. Then I started writing a bit about my travel to Brazil, and boom. As soon as I started to write about something I cared about and enjoyed, I had success. From there to now I have tried to only write about stuff I enjoy, even if I don't earn that much STEEM. Since then, I have been enjoying Steemit.

A Tip From A Not So Old User

Don't care about the payouts. They will come. Stay true to yourself. If you like gaming, you write about gaming. If you like painting, you write about painting. If you like Hentai Porn, you write about that. Sooner or later people will notice you, because they can feel that, what you write, is something you enjoy. Then, the payouts will start to increase. Your following will increase, and last but not least, it will not feel like a drag being on Steemit.

Steemit Got Me A Job

I have been slowly increasing my amount of STEEM, by blogging, commenting, curation rewards etc, but it was not until I got "a job" that it really started to increase. Back in August when the Premier League was about to start, I got in contact with @acidyo. Acidyo and I was both trying to start a private league for users on Steemit. He didn't feel like he had the time to write posts, and mine wasn't getting enough traction. Therefore, I told him that I had enough time to write for him. So I did. Two posts pr. week. Probably the biggest prize pool Steemit has ever seen, and the best of it all. I'm enjoying it. I am forever grateful for the opportunity @acidyo gave me.

2017 --> 2018

2017 has been crazy. From 800 STEEM to 3500 STEEM. From 0.40 $ pr. STEEM to 2.70 $. From 0 followers to almost 2000. The crazy thing is. This is not even the beginning. This is the beginning of the beginning. HF20 will probably be here in January, and then the beginning will start. The beginning where thousand, hopefully, millions of users, will have an account on Steemit. That will increase the demand for STEEM, and boom, financial freedom, here we come. Then SMT's will arrive. Smart Media Token will be a completely revolutionizing way to reward user engagement built on STEEM. This will as well increase the price of STEEM, and as @fyrstikken so often has said on steemspeak: "You are all gonna be rich, boys". Never was I in doubt, but now, never has I felt so sure about it.

How has your 2017 on Steemit been?

Just the motivation I need to start my year off. I totally agree, I had the same questions for myself and came up with the same solutions write what you love about and stay committed. I am happy stimulating people's minds with riddles and jokes much better then keeping up with the crypto world lol thanks again.

                                                                             ???? The Riddler????

That's great! Great that it somehow motivated or helped you. Now you just have to stay persistent and not forget to write about what you enjoy.

absolutely, I am very engaged in the steem community as well just planting my feet and building my reputation now. Good new year to you sir.

Thank you for sharing this very nice story you wrote about Steemit

Thanks for getting me into steem my friend! ;) great post, great content! Have a nice evening, happy new year mate!

You're very much welcome!

One of the best thing that happened to me in 2017 is Steemit.

Can't agree more with this. We just have share what we care about. Wishing you a great year ahead. :)

Right back at you!

Wicked post!! Its all about following your passion and what you love, Im happy that Steemit is working well for you :)

Just like you're doing ;)

I'm nervous and excited about it all--about everything that could be coming along this year. Sometimes I'm worried/sad I didn't put enough time in soon enough, especially because putting in monetary investment wasn't an option for me when I joined.

For the hope in June when I joined, and then when things took off like they did in November/December, 2017 on Steemit has been amazing. Mostly, I'm just grateful. But I do wonder if there is more I should be doing at this stage of the game before it explodes/has potential mass adoption.

Well. Just by posting one or two times a week you should be more than fine. It will take another 6 motnhs or a year before it gets really popular, so no need to rush. The most important is just to enjoy it.

Good advice, and good to know there's still a window. Of course, the only way to do really well in a consistent way is to enjoy the platform, and luckily, that part isn't hard for me haha :).

Congrats to you, by the way! You've done phenomenally well!

Thank you, and you too! One day we might do a cover together. Who knows?

i love it when you write about hentai porn. good thing im not into that but i agree with following passion

Great post. It is all about enjoying the Steemit journey. The rewards will come when you do things that you are passionate about. My Steemit was nice, I earn some, learn some, play some:). Next year will be even better.

yeah well said its actually gets rewarded when you yourself enjoy your work...whether if we didn't get anything...we feel happy from inside by shairing the moment of which we enjoyed, makes us feel the best feeling...

So true that we are at the beginning of the beginning. I'm so excited what this platform will achieve in the years to come. Happy new steemit year 🍸
