Trial by comics: Classic Mortal Kombat
Hey, guys! What’s up? :D
Everything bad that could happen, happened. I'm joining the contest late, I spent two days with electricity problems and then half a day without internet. What a mess! :( But well, here I am. I hope it's not too late and if so, well, better luck next time :P
Too many ideas!
At first, I thought about making a drawing with several characters from different video games like Devil may cry, God of war, Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Resident evil. Then, I wanted to make a war scenario of some video games like Medal of honor, Killzone, Black or Call of duty.
All those represent my time in high school, but my favorites were Guitar hero, Need for speed, GTA San Andreas and Tony Hawk. I don't consider myself an expert in video games, but I've definitely always liked them. I remember when I begged my dad to buy me a PS2 and finally, he bought me one after he left the house (my parents divorced when I was a child).
Theme: Video games
Certainly, that console gave me years of fun until it got damaged. One of those fun moments was when my best friends came to play at my house after classes. I've a friend named Irene who is super competitive. She and John, another friend of mine wanted to play Mortal Kombat Armageddon. John chose Sub-zero and honestly, I don't remember what the other character was, but the point is that John used only one attack during the whole fight with Irene. He took the Sub-zero's sword and he nailed it to the other character, repeatedly.
Irene was so angry, haha. John only laughed because he did it on purpose so that she would get like that. In the end, she almost fights with him so I decided to remove the game and put another... she got angry again because she lost, hahaha.
Characters' design
Scenario's first half
Scenario almost completed
So that's the reason why I decided to draw a Mortal Kombat fight scenario because it reminds me of that moment that happened many years ago. And why pixel art? Well, I like video games with this style. I thought it would be great to make a version of the first Mortal Kombat that came out in 1992. It was my chance to do something that I hadn't tried before and it worked out better than I expected, haha.
This drawing was made in Paint and I swear that it takes about two hours doing only the Sub-zero's head, haha. I don't know what happened to me, but I couldn't make it symmetrical. Fortunately, I managed to get the trick and from there, it was much easier.
I drew the stage and the characters, separately. Once I finished drawing the characters, I started the stage. I just had to draw half the scenario and then copy, change the direction and paste the stage to complete the other half.
Well, that’s all for tonight. Hope you liked it. Bye, guys! <3
