Helping a friend who had a car crash, eventful night.

in #blog7 years ago

As I was sitting down to eat my well deserved McDonalds my wife's phone rang, as I just bit into the new cheese and beef feast she gave a glance that gave me a shiver.

"Your mate has been trying to ring you," she said "he's been in a car accident and he is hurt"

I grabbed my wife, kids and food and took to the road like a madman, I just wished I had blue lights and a siren as it would have made driving through traffic so much easier.

I had to drop them off first as a car crash is no place for the kids to be. after dropping them at home I then had to battle through more traffic.

finally, I arrived at Blackstock road where I saw two police officers and my mates car in a mess, I pulled up on a mud banking and walked across to see what was happening.

As I got to the car a police officer asked me what I was doing, and as I explained that I was there for my mate he let me go to talk with him.

my friend was sat in his car with a look of pain, he said his back really hurt and I asked him what was happening and he told me that he was waiting for an ambulance to take him to hospital as he hurt so much he didn't want to get out of the car until they helped him.

I talked to the police officer about the situation to be met by the guy who had crashed into the back of him. he had his phone out and was filming everything.
this seemed highly strange since he was the one who drove into the back of my mate, you would think he would not want to prove his guilt.
After talking with some witnesses it was apparent that he was talking on his mobile phone when he crashed into them, but the police said it was his word against the other guy.
My mate waited an hour and forty minutes for the ambulance to get to him. he was motivated to get out of the car on his own as they explained that if he was to sit in the car and not get out they would have to cut the roof of the car.
He gingerly got out and the ambulance crew helped him on to the stretcher and put him in the back of the ambulance.
I got his keys for his car and moved the car to a little parking space to when it could be recovered.
here are the pictures from last night.

This morning after closer inspection the car boot will not close, all the bumper is broken and it looks like from the impact that it had damaged his brand new alloy wheels.
I have spoken to him today and he could hardly move because his back nick and legs hurt from the jolt of impact.

all I can say to you guys if this is not proof that driving while on the phone is dangerous then what more proof do people need.

drive safe people and keep steeming
