Music Word of the Day: Badinerie
Badinerie is a piece of music that is light-hearted in character.
The best known badinerie is the lively, last movement of Bach's suite in b minor for flute, strings and continuo, which you may watch and listen to in the video above.
Badinerie is an 18th century English word derived from the 1650s, French word “badin” or “badinage” which means "playfulness, jesting, to jest, joke, silly”. Also may be related to the Scottish word “Badnystie” such as in the Scottish prose:
“Thow barrant wit ouirset with fantasyis Schaw now thy schame schaw now thy badnystie Schaw now thy endite repruse of rethoryis” - Palace of Honour

Music Word of the Day
Every day I make an attempt to add a little bit more music and art knowledge to the Internet, one word at a time. Realizing there aren’t many comprehensive and complete online music and art dictionaries, I set out on a mission to compile my own.

Completely (well sort of) different piece with a new or old flute (period instruments). Or so my tinnitus finds. Also like the intimate setting (as compared to a sonorous church).
Indeed.
I was summoned by @artopium. I have done their bidding and now I will vanish...
A portion of the proceeds from your bid was used in support of youarehope and tarc.
