Visit to the "Manto de María" Monument
Hello steemit friends, greetings from Venezuela, here I am again and I want to share a visit to a beautiful place that fills us with pride.
The mantle of Mary is a monument in honor of the mother of Jesus Christ, in her dedication to the Divine Shepherdess, patroness of Barquisimeto. the design of this work was made by the architects Orlando Perdomo, Rafael Vargas and Jorge Rodríguez and was inaugurated on January 13, 2016.
This monument is the Kinetic representation of the image of the Virgin of the Divine Shepherdess and of the child, it was made with 3772 aluminum tubes coated with black electrostatic paint , is a three-dimensional work that could be seen from different angles and that by the height of its construction and the changing movement of the winds has an undulating behavior that evokes the swaying of the original figure when its devotees take it in procession, it is located in Venezuela.
The structure has a height of 63 meters, and is composed of two towers of reinforced concrete and a metal bridge beam that form a portico that frames the main figure, a kinetic art sculpture of 47.14 meters, surrounded by a mirror of water that means the purity of the faith of the parishioners in the patroness of the Lara state.
The portico is composed of a pair of reinforced concrete towers that allow a climb and descent route with six vantage points.
It was built on a hill in the sector Veragacha or El Vidrio, east of Barquisimeto, called "The Hill of the Winds" located on the Circunvalación Avenue, in the city of Barquisimeto capital of Lara State, for its imposing height and elevation where it was built can be observed approximately 74 km away.

The main access to the monument, located in the North Tower, is through an iron door 9.30 meters high and 3 meters wide in which it is written in relief and with braille writing the prayer the Our Father.

To guarantee the integrity of the structure due to the movement caused by the winds, each of the guayas has concrete counterweights in its lower part that cushion the vertical movement, while the upper frame, where the guayas hang, cushions the lateral movements.
The guided tours service allows the observation of the monument from different angles at different heights including a panoramic view of the city from the top of the structure, during the tour the different details of the work are made known.
This place is an ideal place for recreation, contemplation, the spiritual and religious encounter that has become a new architectural and touristic icon of the City of Barquisimeto.
I invite you to know this magnificent work, do not miss it!
