Density fluctuations and random walks in an overdamped and supercooled simple liquid (1901.05265v3)

2019-01-16
In this work, the short-time dynamics of simple liquid is explored both analytically and numerically with the focus on the interplay between the density fluctuations in a volume surrounding a chosen particle and its random walk motion. The particles interact via the Lennard-Jones potential with parameters corresponding to liquid argon. For large times, analytical calculations based on the fluctuation theory provides an explicit expression reproducing isothermal change of the self-diffusion coefficient in liquid argon corresponding to the experimental data. These results lead to the conclusion that such behavior is based on the reduced mobility of particles reflected in their density fluctuations that can be equivalently achieved in the cases of either low temperatures and pressures (supercooling) or moderate temperatures and high pressures (overdamping).

We present exact results for the full counting statistics, or the scaled cumulant generating function, pertaining to the transfer of arbitrary conserved quantities across an interface in homogeneous integrable models out of equilibrium. We do this by combining insights from generalised hydrodynamics with a theory of large deviations in ballistic transport. The results are applicable to a wide variety of physical systems, including the Lieb-Liniger gas and the Heisenberg chain. We confirm the predictions by Monte Carlo simulations of the classical hard rod gas. We verify numerically that the exact results obey the correct non-equilibrium fluctuation relations with the appropriate initial conditions.

In this paper we discuss the norms of the Bethe states for the spin one-half Heisenberg chain in the critical regime. Our analysis is based on the ODE/IQFT correspondence. Together with numerical work, this has lead us to formulate a set of conjectures concerning the scaling behavior of the norms. Also, we clarify the role of the different Hermitian structures associated with the integrable structure studied in the series of works of Bazhanov, Lukyanov and Zamolodchikov in the mid nineties.
Uncertainty Relations for Underdamped Langevin Dynamics (1901.05715v3)

A trade-off between the precision of an arbitrary current and the dissipation, known as the thermodynamic uncertainty relation, has been investigated for various Markovian systems. Here, we study the thermodynamic uncertainty relation for underdamped Langevin dynamics. By employing information inequalities, we prove that, for such systems, the relative fluctuation of a current at a steady state is constrained by both the entropy production and the average dynamical activity. We find that, unlike what is the case for overdamped dynamics, the dynamical activity plays an important role in the bound. We illustrate our results with two systems, a single-well potential system and a periodically driven Brownian particle model, and numerically verify the inequalities.
Entanglement of a chiral fermion on the torus (1906.07057v1)

In this paper we present the detailed calculation of a new modular Hamiltonian, namely that of a chiral fermion on a circle at non-zero temperature. We provide explicit results for an arbitrary collection of intervals, which we discuss at length by checking against known results in different limits and by computing the associated modular flow. We also compute the entanglement entropy, and we obtain a simple expression for it which appears to be more manageable than those already existing in the literature.
