Why is slowing down?

in #creature6 years ago

Thomas Jefferson was the third US President. In 1776, Colonel Stewart sent a box of unknown animal bones to him. These bones were found in a cave in Virginia.

Because of the bones of long and sharp nails in the bones, they assumed they were part of a lion's fossil. So in the conference of American Philosophical Society held in Philadelphia in March 1797, Jefferson presented an essay titled Certain Bones. In this article, he commented that these large lions' bones are in large shape.

Because of them there was a sharp nail bone, he named the lion Megalonyx, whose simple meaning is Giant Claw. But interestingly, the bones of Jefferson's box were not but lions. They came from the extinct grapefruit jurisdiction.

The prehistoric slopes roamed about 35 million years ago. Several species of slopes could be seen throughout the whole of the North, South and Central America continents. Megalonychidae clan of some of the clans still exist, whose size is like a big cats. But most of the species of junk were of monster form. Researchers later found that bone bones that were passed to Jefferson included those of Megalonyx.

They weighed about a ton of tons. Even larger were the meath of the masses of Megatherium. They were about six metric tons of weight, and in the shape of the size was the proof-size elephant. They roamed around the jungle or sabana by roaming on their arm. The sharp and sharp nails helped them to eat and grow in the trees.

Sloths survived for several million years in the evolutionary phase. But since about ten thousand years ago, many other monster-type animals began to disappear. Scientists believe that due to the imminent ice age or the gradual penetration of the people in the region, the lunatic monstrous slopes began to disappear.

Because the slopes are flora, they get plenty of leaves for the food at the top of the tree and any predator can not easily attack them if they are at the peak of the tree - basically, from these two advantages, some small-size shrubs begin to live on the top of the tree.

In North, South and Central America, there are only six species of slopes in the rainforest

Slow down

Animals produce energy through the process of inhalation (ATP). This strength helps him to complete all the tasks of daily life. Through this energy, the animals will be able to fulfill all their biological actions properly and survive in the environment. Therefore, the amount of energy produced in the respiratory process depends on the nature of food received by animals.

During the evolutionary phase, the gradient of living at the top of the tree gradually becomes adaptable to that environment. They become accustomed to eating it. Especially the Bradypus masses relish only on the leaves of the tree for food. The amount of energy received from the plant leaves is much lower than the other fruits obtained from the main or protein. So, only the trees that survive on the leaves of the tree produce less energy than other animals.

Therefore, in order to complete all the biological activities with little power, the changes in their own physiological behavior have changed. To adapt accordingly, they had to achieve various characteristics.

First, the leopards take the maximum strength as food extract. There are few cellular stomachs in more than half of their whole body. Once it is consumed by a species, it takes five to seven days to relieve it completely. In this way, they maintain a very good energy.

Secondly, they spend as much energy as possible in daily life as possible. Like they do not move very fast. They mostly consume food or take rest or fall asleep. Take a break for natural action once a week. When moving from the tree to perform intermittent movements, they move very slowly. They walk roughly like fifteen yards in a minute. Due to the slow pace, they can easily fall prey to a predatory attack as they fall to the ground.

Because the swath does not have to move very fast, so does not require too much muscle in the ligament. Indeed, their muscular size is almost 30 percent less than any of these animals.

To maintain the temperature of your body does not cost too much energy. Because they can adapt their body temperature to up to five degrees by any other mammal.

This physiological and behavioral adaptation and self-acquired properties help reduce the cost of energy to reduce the amount of energy. In context, the three-footed bradypus animal is the slowest metabolic rate in animals.

This slow pace of sloth helps them not only survive in the environment, but also acts as the host of various shawlas, fungi and so on. Shawla's coat again acts as a camouflage to protect against hunting predators, which gives them some extra flexibility to survive.

Gradually, in the evolutionary paradigm may have lost its giant monstrosity. But in the direction of physiological and behavioral diversity, it is not only attractive but less interesting.
