Achanthochepala part 3
Hello everyone's!!!
Continued from posting 2 ...
🦗 The scientific name of wood beetles
This dark brown beetle nicknamed in the language of ilmiah is Acanthocephala, this insect is a species of the genus New World of true insects and he comes from the family Coreidae. The experts adopted this name from the Greek is,
thorn / spine + kephale which means head This name refers to the spine at the front of the head.
Then there is the pteron sentence which comes from ancient Greek, when the two sentences are united it will mean sheathed wings, this reinforces the language's explanation because each beetle has two wings that are veiled or attached to its body. Like this beetle, it also has wings that are shrouded in its upper body, at first glance it doesn't look like it has wings, but if you throw it away, it will flap its wings when it flies
As mentioned above that this beetle wing pair, looks hardened and thickened which can protect the pair of wings behind it and also protect the back of the beetle's body itself, but in my vision this beetle has two wings that are relatic on the main part of the wing even though the wings are hard but will always be flexible when flying, this can be proven when you try to pull the wings up, then it will automatically raise automatically.
🕊️ Has a smooth wing lining
This beetle besides having a main wing when flying but he also has several layers of subtle wings under the main wing layer, the shape of the red wing is smooth with a smooth layer, in a plain appearance the inner layer of the wing amounts to 6 pairs. The smooth wings help the flight when the upper wing works, thus becoming an amplifier in flying speed and also as a direction controller in turning like an airplane that airs in the sky.
The inner wing layer is bright red with a delicate shape and will be a stunning shades of red when flying through the air so that the human eye will see out the deep red color seen from a distance.
In the previous post it has been explained about the characters including names and others that tell about the situation, but in one of the 9th grade biology textbooks there is a clarification that explains themselves in the summary of scientists, so in this case I will copy back the insect experts' classification of them, as you can see in the table below.
Clarification of the achantoceohala beetle

🐜 Can camouflage in certain places
In the group of insects that are included in the order hemiptera and coleoptera and other orders have the ability to disguise themselves from any predator who wants to hunt him. This technique is done specifically to save themselves.
Sometimes they disguise themselves with objects around them, depending on their color or ability to camouflage.
Likewise with this order, this one beetle also has the ability to disguise itself with the surrounding area but can do it in certain places, such as in the upper layers of the tree as you see in the picture, but it must find layers of trees that resemble the color of the layers a tree with its body color.
However, although he can camouflage on any object whose color resembles his body color, he cannot disguise with a different color object such as the color of the leaves means a different color. But when he is in the green leaves, he can save himself from predator attacks.
🍛 Beetles become invertebrate animal food
There are some species of beetles that become predators of animals or other insect species, such as Lady Bug insects, and insects such as Dragonflies always hunt other insects, and sometimes these beetles will also hunt several species. However, their presence is also soft food for animals that are not vertebrates or invertebrates, and this has become a tradition of living in the wild.
Animals belonging to invertebrates and vertebrates including insects,
always attack the beetles found on every plant.
The achanthochepala beetle or the local community mentions it as the Brown Wood Beetle, also having attacks from every animal such as birds, bats and other predatory animals. So he always hiding behind the leaves of leaves or as a disguise himself with a layer of wood that is colored like the color of his body. When they are in the middle of green leaves, the predator is very difficult to reach his body from these obstacles.
By doing this simple trick, the Achanthochepala beetle can breed as it should and in the end its civilization always runs safely and well.
That is the explanation of the character of the achanthochepala beetle or Brown Wood Beetle which is rarely seen compared to other insects which roam free where they are heading. Hopefully this article will motivate scientists in further researching achanthochepala and become additional scientific insights for all of us about insects. Thank you very much.
