8 killed in road accident in Gopalganj
Eight people were killed in a road accident in Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalganj.
At least 26 people were injured in the accident on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Bishmbari area of the upazila.
Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saidur Rahman Khan Janan, a nightclub of Sugandha Paribahan (Barisalgumi) left from Dhaka, Dhaka Metro B-1162, fell into a ditch after losing control when it reached Bishmwadi in Muksudpur upazila. In the accident, six people were killed and 28 others injured when the bus super-driver Anim Majhi (35) and bus driver Hasan Miaasaha (25) were killed.
He said, the news of the broken Highway Police and Fire Service activists started the rescue. The injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where two more died.
Passenger of the accident bus Jahangir (49) and Golam Mustafa (32) said that the driver lost control while crossing a truck at around 2:30 am. The bus recedes 30 meters below the road in the vicinity of the road. Six people died on the spot.
They said, 'After the accident we came out of the car. Within 10 minutes of our screaming, the locals came to rescue the car. After some time the police and fire service personnel came to the spot. The people of the vehicle have been injured. '
The bus driver said that the bus was out of control while crossing the truck. So the bus fell into a ditch by collision with tree near Bishwambhardi culvert.
"We have recovered 6 bodies from the spot and handed them over to the Bhanga Highway police station," said Leader of the Bhanga Fire Service Station in Faridpur. After rescuing 28 injured, he sent our vehicles and ambulance to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. They were not kept there. Later, we reached them at Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Now the work of rescue of the accidental bus is underway.
