Goodbye Partiko, it’s been fun
Yesterday I initiated removal of my 1000sp delegation to @partiko - back to my account
I really loved Partiko when I first joined; it was fast, incredibly responsive and easy to use.
The product felt like a massive step up from what other mobile developers, like eSteem, were doing on Steem at the time.
They had an edge because their iOS version of the app worked beautifully.
But lately, I’m sure I’m not the only one to say this, the app is now buggy, unreliable, and I’ve no idea what the developers are up to (if anything) to communicate their vision and improve their product with the community. Perhaps there is a Discord? But I’ve not joined.
It’s fine if they have just stopped work on the project entirely; it’s their business, but I just wish there was some communication on Steem.
I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt over the last few months because I love the product by hanging on and seeing what might happen, but it’s been 4 months since anything was posted on their blog and there have not been any iOS updates. The app is not what it used to be, and for that reason I’ve removed my delegation.
eSteem
It’s funny; back when I first joined Steem at the start of 2018, the only mobile options to use the platform were (as far as I knew) log in to steemit via the browser... (eeerm, no thanks), Steepshot, or use eSteem!
And oh boy was @esteem a revelation!
It was fast, easy and just worked.
I used it solidly for a year or so until the development slowed for some reason or another on the iOS version and it slowly became so buggy and slow that I literally couldn’t type words in to it without it jumping all over the screen. It was unusable for a long time.
So I reluctantly left the app that I grew to use every day in favour of Partiko and it’s awesome lightning fast iOS version.
Aaaand now it’s come full circle, again.
Sadly, the only things I wanted improving in the Partiko app were to post multiple picture on iOS (which they always offered for Android as standard) as well as a pin-code security function, which I had become used to on the eSteem app.
But those features never came and nothing happened. It is now slow and buggy with no updating of the notifications etc.
So this leaves me in a position where I’m going back to eSteem like the good old days, to test its metal.
Their iOS version looks great!
I’ll still keep my Partiko app running and I can probably use those points I’ve built from daily useage, but for now to @Partiko all I want to say is thanks for a fantastic app; but it’s time to move on. I hope to see Partiko develop some cool new things in the future.

I'm so glad you wrote this post! I have been having trouble with Partiko for weeks and I thought it was a problem with my phone. I'm glad to know it's not just me. I really loved it too. I didn't use it for posting, but it was so much easier to read and respond to comments from my phone as they came in rather than on my computer. Now the notifications are delayed by days, if they show up at all, and I have stopped using it. I just installed esteem and I'm encouraged by your good review.
Yeah it’s a real shame. I use mobile Steem 95% of the time. Especially posting, commenting and curating.
I don’t have time to sit at a computer and do it these days, so Partiko came at just the right time.
eSteem is worth a go.
I’ve got both apps running on the same phone right now, just in case. 👍🏻

I'm still running both as well. I figure I should hedge my bets while I learn how to use eSteem. I'm a very un-tech savvy and it takes me a while to get used to any new app.
That's interesting. I didnt know anything about esteem before this post. I'm still using partiko and it has definitely been buggy as F. I thought it was because of the hard fork and they were just getting everything settled. It got better for a spell but now it's back to being buggy. I dont know, I might have to switch as well. I'm not sure yet but it may get to that point. Thanks for the info. Its helpful.

I thought the same, that maybe it was HF that jolted things a bit, but it seems widely acknowledged that the bugs seem out of control for everyone at this point.
eSteem have a great product now, which I’m looking forward to exploring :)

For me it seems to have started before the fork. I'm under the impression I haven't been able to claim 10 times in a row the 50 Partiko points from viewing ads in months. But I admit loading delays from posting look like having become more common since the HF.

Yeah I just woke up to a back log of comment and vote notifications hat failed to come through over the week. Lol. I just thought that the platform was slow over the last few days. Turns out people were responding to comments and interacting and I just wasnt aware of it lol

I believe it was just a guy called Sida (@crypto.talk) who developed Partiko. He was very good - used to work for AirBnB developing their mobile app I believe.
He was on my shows several times - last time in March. I then invited him again in April and never heard anymore. I believe he had been visiting his home in China then.
It’s amazing what one guy can do.
Great that you had him on the show.
Seems a total mystery what’s going on at the moment, no one has any answers, quite odd.
Such a shame because Partiko is (or was before the bugs) absolutely brilliant.

Yeah, partiko is/was one of the best mobile interfaces. It's just a shame that the dev team appear to have gone awol...! V buggy now.
