If We Look From the Viewpoint of Art History: From St. Petersburg Travel in 2013 (Cathedral of the Resurrection)
Cathedral of the Resurrection (Our Saviour-on-the-Split-Blood)
The complex of the Mikhailovsky Palace adjoins by its line the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal, where at the beginning of the 20th century was erected the monumental cathedral of the resurrection, commonly known as ''Our Saviour-on-the-Split-Blood''. The Cathedralwas founded oh the spot where Emperor Alexander II was killed bt terrorists in March 1881.
The Project of this building in Russian style of the 16th and 17th centuries was worked out by the the architect Alfred Parland by 1887. The height of the Cathedral is 81 m. It is crowned by nine domes - 4 gilded and 5 covered by jewellery enamel. The enamel work was executed at the famous Postnikov Factory Moscow. In the exterior decoration of the red brick fronts were widely used inlays of majolica insets and mosaic panels.

The interior of the cathedral is adorned with diverse kinds of semi-precious stones (rhodonite, jasper, rare and varicolored marble, etc.); the walls and vaults are covered all over with mosaics made in the Frolov Workshop in St. Petersburg from sketches by the most eminent Russian artists. An overall are of mosaics in the interior was more than 7000 sq. m.
