A Reaally Bad Day (1980 09 17) Part 5
In the Previous Missive, I omitted to mention that I had also broken my Breastbone and and many ribs!
Thinking about the Title?, I realised this is going to turn into a pretty Bad rest of the Year , with a few High Points.
I insisted that they bring Chris to me so that I could see how she was, this was done in a Wheelchair , and I was relieved to see her, and have a few words.
Someone brought Wayne to see me( my Eldest)who was 7 at the Time, there was a shout , "Daddy"he ran out screaming?
There were no mirrors in the room ( probably for Good Reason) evidently my Head was twice it's normal size and I had long hair which was packed with Mud!

There was a Chill wind and a window was left open one night, and here I get Pleurisy , when I lay back in the Bed it felt like I was drowning.
They put 19 pillows behind me ,to prop me up, and I would have to lock my legs straight in the sides of the bed in order to stop me sliding down, so I could sleep!
There were plenty of Visitors through the Rooms everyday.
With the open wounds I had ,Someone was coming everyday to sniff at me, I assume looking for any sign of Necrosis?
A friend of Mine Charlie A. came to visit with his Wife who brought me a Litre of Cabbage Juice to Drink?, insisted on watching me drink it down , as she wanted her Container Back!
Vile, is not a strong enough word?

Some of the Visitor's mention to me, The Doctors say you will be here between 5 to 7 months?, I say ( did I mention that I am slightly arrogant?) I will be out of here in a week!
I immediately start getting the Nurses to pick me up out of the bed , hook my right arm over the food table( they wheel over the bed to you) and start trying to walk, I think I made 3 steps the first time, but in a day os so was making a pest of myself, up and down the corridors.
And yes , it was a Week later that both Chris and I were taken home 31 days after the Accident.
It was probably a bit Early , but there are so many depressingly sick and injured people in Hospitals?
I will continue with more reasonably interesting Tales on my Life.

Hello,I have not read the other parts,but I understand it was an accident that left him very bad ,convalescences are always hard and more with such a serious accident.Arrogance ,I think it is common in some patients ,it only hides the fear of having to depend on someone else for everything.I think it is common in some patients ,it only hides the fear of having to depend on another for everything.
