DAILY CELESTIAL CHALLENGE THURSDAY - FORCES IN NATURE
GRAVITY ON EARTH
Gravity is the force by which a planet or other body draws objects toward its center. The force of gravity keeps all of the planets in orbit around the sun. Since energy and mass are equivalent, all forms of energy (including light) cause gravitation and are under the influence of it.
Gravity is the force that attracts two bodies toward each other, the force that causes apples to fall toward the ground and the planets to orbit the sun. The more massive an object is, the stronger its gravitational pull.
GRAVITY IN UNIVERSE
It's the force of attraction that pulls and holds objects together. The Earth's gravity pulls everything around it towards its center. The planets and other objects which orbit the Sun travel in flattened circles called ellipses. If the pull of gravity is strong enough it will pull gases towards a planet or moon to form an atmosphere.
