We should be grateful to Thomas Alva Edison, inventor of electric light, because we can do many activities at night, whether it is working, learning, playing and others. Thomas Edison has changed the world with the greatest invention.

Thomas Alfa Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Ohio, USA. Edison only studied in school for 3 months, because his academic achievement was not good. His teachers complained about his low grades and he is not talented. He was instead taught by his mother, Nancy Matthews Elliott. His mother was a teacher.

Although Edison was not in school anymore, Edison still has the spirit to do experiments. He had dissected animals for his experiments. At the age of eleven, Edison built a simple chemistry laboratory in the basement of his father's home. A year later he succeeded in creating a simple telegraph.

Edison tried continue to his experiments. His experiments needed much money. So he worked on the Grand Trunk Railway, the railroad company as a telegraph operator. On the Railway, he was allowed to make a laboratory. He succeed to find many important inventions.

In 1877, Edison started to do the important experiment with Electric Light. His reason was Electric Light would be needed by humans. He gave his attention and time to this experiment. He spent 40,000 dollars on it. The money he got from the sale of his other inventions to the companies. He spent 6,000 materials for this experiment, so he succeed to find a 40-hour incandescent lamp on October 21, 1879.

Edison already had 1093 patents from thousands of his experiments. He had changed the world with his invention. The world should thank him.
