Injury Update - Zach Osborne

Things in this sport can go south pretty quickly and that was certainly the case for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider Zach Osborne in moto two at Thunder Valley this weekend.

Osborne got a great start and was powering up the hill towards the first corner trying to get out front quick. Unfortunately though Savatgy tried to beat him to the corner and was clipped which sent his Kawasaki into Osbornes Husky and took out a fair few riders with them. The crash was pretty bad and it was not looking like he would be rejoining the race at all.

There was good reason for him taking time to get back on the bike, that reason being the crash popped his shoulder out of joint and needed to be put back in place before he was safe to get going again. He did get going though and managed somehow to fight his way up to twentieth which salvaged a single point from the race.

"Today was a learning experience for me. I got off to a good start in the first moto and was able to hold on for a fifth. Then, I was hit in the first turn at the start of the second moto and popped my shoulder out. It took me a second to get it back in before I could get going. I managed to score one point. There are eighteen motos left and a lot of points still on the table."

Not what Osborne needed and has no subsequently dropped to fourth in the 250 class of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series. As the current champion and with him moving up to the 450s next year he needs to regroup and hope that was the last of his luck going forward. With nine more races left to go he has time to correct this mishap but there is enough talent in the field to make this a tough call. I'm glad he can dust himself off from this one as that looked nasty...
