Agree that this little feathered friend has an excellent disguise. If he hadn't been jumping and running, but was motionless, I probably would have walked past him and not noticed. But my peripheral vision is trained for movement (in my younger years I was a hunter).

Meet this finch from the family of bindweed. Judging by the color, this is a male and he is busy searching for insects among the grass of the park. And at this point we will move on to insects.

Знакомьтесь, это зяблик из семейства вьюнковых. Судя по окрасу это самец и занят он поиском насекомых среди травы парка. И вот в этом месте мы перейдём к насекомым.

Another movement in the grass caught my attention and at first I couldn't understand what was going on there. On a walk, I rarely use glasses, they interfere with looking through the camera's viewfinder. And without glasses, I saw a large dragonfly that made incomprehensible movements. Already looking through the viewfinder, I noticed a second insect. It was a rather large wasp. Remembering that dragonflies are quite strong predators with strong jaws, I thought that a dragonfly caught a wasp in flight and is now finishing it off on the ground.

The place was in the shade of a tree, there was not enough lighting. I increased the ISO to be able to stop the movement in the frame a bit. It partly worked out, but their movements were too small and fast. Nevertheless, I realized the main thing - I was wrong about this battle.

In fact, the wasp was the hunter, and the dragonfly was her unfortunate trophy. Of course, I didn't interfere in their battle. I had to feed my tired granddaughters and we went to the nearest cafe on the banks of the Neva. Going back, I found exactly this place in the hope of seeing something else. But there was no one in the grass.

Perhaps a finch has been here... In nature, everything is interconnected.

Моё внимание привлекло ещё одно движение в траве и вначале я не мог понять, что там происходит. На прогулке я редко пользуюсь очками, они мешают смотреть в видоискатель камеры. И без очков я видел крупную стрекозу, которая совершала непонятные движения. Уже глядя в видоискатель я заметил второе насекомое. Это было довольно крупная оса. Помня, что стрекозы являются довольно сильными хищниками с крепкими челюстями я подумал, что стрекоза поймала в полёте осу и теперь её добивает на земле.

Место это было в тени дерева, освещения недостаточно. Я увеличил ISO чтобы иметь возможность немного остановить движение в кадре. Отчасти это получилось, но их движения были слишком мелкими и быстрыми. И тем не менее я понял главное - я ошибался относительно этой битвы.

На самом деле охотником была оса, а стрекоза её несчастным трофеем. Конечно, я не стал вмешиваться в их битву. Мне надо было покормить уставших внучек и мы шли в ближайшее кафе на берегу Невы. Возвращаясь назад я нашёл именно это место в надежде увидеть что-то ещё. Но в траве никого не было.

Возможно тут побывал зяблик... В природе всё взаимосвязано.
