If you are living or ever lived in a rented apartment, you will have an idea of what possession and ownership means. This became clearer to me when I helped a friend manage his bussines but the policies governing the business was solely from him.

Possession and ownership are two closely related words with similar meanings however, they are different.

Possession is the act of having physical control over an object while owership is the right by which something belongs to someone. Possession is having mere custody while owernershi is rightful possession.

There are many things we have that we do not own but we fail either consciously or unconsciously to recognise this fact. A young man driving his boss' car, feels he owns the car simply because his boss travelled out of the country.

Life is one gift we all posses but we feel we own. People often say: Its my life, allow me to live it the way I want.

Life does not belongs to us, we only posses it. God is the owner of life but He has given it to us for a reason and a limited period. This explains the reality of death. A time when that life that was given to us by the Creator will be withdrawn from us.

We should live life with caution because it's not ours. We are living a borrowed time, time which is precious but limited. Just as we would not carelessly treat what does not belong to us, so also should we live our lives.

Let us make life meaningful. Let us have a sense of purpose in life. Let us live to the actualization of our dreams and potentials. Let us live a life that generations to come, will be proud of.

Let us not live under the bondage of fear and intimidation. Let us stop existing and beging to live. Let us make good use of the many opportunities and previledges that life offers us.

Let us not place our existence into the hands of anyone. Let us not become slaves to others in the bid to pleasing them. Let us be convinced of whatever we are doing because we are living a borrowed time.

Life is short but precious. We are only custodians of life not owners.
