Introduction

I always convince myself with more than just a reason to share my day with y'all, at least on Sundays.
To me, narrating to you how I spent spent my Sunday is not just about updating you about my day but also, I always share with you the word of God which I received from his Ministers in the church regardless of whether my you readers as well, went to church or didn't, since knowledge is so versatile.

Well, ain't counted in today's church service and I think that's quite unfortunate of me, this is due to some pressing issue which since have been fixed nevertheless, I stayed and prayed indoors and as well, read from the Christian's holy book, the Bible the same portion the church ought to read today and I think this is the most part worth sharing.
Continue reading as I'm about to take you on a journey of how my day went as arranged below the lines according to the day's sections.

Morning Section

"Barnabas! Barnabas!!", that was momma calling me early about 17 minutes after 7 while I was still sleeping. She actually needed my help, I got out, went to where she was calling me and attended to her needs. Returned to my bedroom with the hope of continuing my sleep but sleep ignored me successfully 😁.
I wanted to continue my sleep because I never planned to be part of today's Sunday service due to some reasons as I stated earlier. Now, since I couldn't continue to sleep, I decided to embark on some daily possible chores and I was able to finish everything at 9:49am including taking my bath.

  • Morning devotion:

Since ain't participating in today's service, I decided to carry out a devotion which i started at that 9:49am. After singing some praises, I picked up my rosary and proceeded to recite.

The Rosary in my hand

As a Catholic, I followed suit the doctrine. Today being Sunday, the church recite The Glorious Mysteries part of the holy rosary.
In the list below are the 5 Glorious Mysteries which I observed in today's rosary recitation:

  • The Resurrection
  • The Ascension
  • The decent of the Holy Spirit
  • The Assumption
  • The Coronation

It took me exactly 20 minutes to finish the rosary recitation i.e 9:49am-10:11am.

Today's Mass Readings

Immediately I finished the rosary recitation, I opened my Missal which contains today's mass readings in order to read from the Bible since I couldn't be counted among today's service attenders.
Today being the 1st day of May, 2022, the Catholic church celebrate the 3rd Sunday of Easter and the memorial feast of Saint Joseph the worker

In a tabular form below are the readings for today's Sunday service.

ReadingsBible Verses
FIRST READINGActs 5:27—32, 40b—41
PSALM30:2, 4, 5—6, 11—12, 13 (2a)
SECOND READINGRevelation 5:11—14
GOSPELJohn 21:1—19

Brief summary of the readings

I present to you in brief, the summaries of the above Bible readings:

  • The first reading:
First Reading taken from the Acts of the Apostles narrate how the captains together with the court officers brought and made the Jesus apostles stand before the Sanhedrin while the high Priest reminded them of the strict order given to them, to stop teaching in Jesus name and how they have filled Jerusalem with the teaching in other to bring Jesus blood on them. In response, peter alongside the apostles answered them that they must obey God instead of man. They narrated further how the God of their ancestors raised Jesus Christ after they have killed him and exalted him at his right hand to grant Israel repentance and as well, forgiveness of sins as leader and savior and they (the apostles) are witnesses of all these according to god's holy spirit. Upon hearing these, the Sanhedrin once again, ordered them to stop teaching in that name and them dismissed them while they (apostle) left the presence rejoicing that they have been found worthy to suffer dishonor for Jesus name's sake.
  • The Responsorial Psalm:
In the response , the psalmist choose offer praises to the lord for he has rescued him

the psalmist proceeded further by stating the reason to extol the Lord for he drew him clear ,not letting his enemies to rejoice over him and the lord's preservation for him among those going down to the pit. The psalmist also urged all the faithful ones to sing praises and give thanks to the Lord's holy for his anger last just for a moment. Calling on the Lord to hear and have pity and be a helper as he changes mourning into dancing.

  • The Second Reading:
The second reading is taken from the apocalypse (The revelations of John).
John narrated how he looked and heard many angel's voices that surround the throne and elders and living creatures. He tells how they cried out in a loud voice , giving praises to the lamb which was slain, how the creatures in heaven, on eariand in seas responded praises also to the one that sits on the throne and the lamb, the four living creatures said amen while the elders worshiped.

  • The Gospel:
The gospel of today taken from John gives an account of the 3rd resurrection of Jesus to his disciples while they were fishing in the sea, how they had been fishing for long yet without catching a single fish and Jesus approaching them, asked them to cast the net by the right hand si, they obeyed as commanded even though they never knew it was Jesus. They couldn't believe their eyes for the fish was much after doing as commanded het the net did not tear. It tells also, how the discipline whom Jesus loved said to Peter that it's Jesus.
It narrates further how he ate with them too.

Reflection

Peter rightly says, "We must obey God rather than men." Christ, not Caesar, is the head of the Church. Putting Him at the top of the priority list, just as the apostles do following their arrest by the authorities, is a must for all Christians who say that they love God. The number of Hallelujahs that we shout is not what matters. Rather, it is by the quality of our obedience to His word that we ultimately show how much we love God. Hence we must be people who obey the Lord, even if it means discomfort and persecution. The Gospel reminds us that just as Jesus meets Peter and the other apostles there by the side of the sea, He meets us in the ordinary places of our lives to re-instate and re-commission us to serve Him wherever we are planted. While we must obey the authorities, obedience to God must come first.
