Milo Yiannopoulos wants to F*ck twitter & it will give birth to Steemit

in #steem8 years ago

Milo's ban on twitter and how can we all capitalise on it!

So according to the news outlets and Reddit (which I hope gets replaced by Steemit in the not too distant future...), Milo Yiannopoulos crossed the line after cyber bullying Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones. The "bullying" and "harassing" got to the point that Twitter had nothing else but to remove Milo out of the platform.

So you probably want to hear my 2 cents on the debate... here it is:

I do not care... As a matter fact, I do, but not in the form that many people think. I believe people have the right to freedom of speech either on public or in the internet. As of today, corporation around the globe... cough cough... Twitter, Youtube, FB and others, are pushing to ban people's ideas and free speech in the internet -If you forgot, the internet is the last frontier where no red tapped has been imposed yet - which is probably one of the main reason we are all using this platform. Decentralise networks is the future and is going to cut the power out of the Too Big Too Fail or Too Big Too Jail.

(too bad there is no volume to hear her bark)

But on the other end twitter makes a blind eye to what ever they think is permissible. Example?? Jimmy Kimmel's mean tweets are probably the first thing that pops in my head.

And yes, I did put her picture because she is smoking hot and b/c we are both from the same country ....

Or what about the fact that twitter has not bothered to ban any ISIS accounts??

So why are you reading this post, you might wonder...

Let's just start by saying the following: I do not care if you agree or disagree with Milo's ban from Twitter. This is not a debate to understand why Milo was banned. The real reason you are reading this is because just like I do, you want to spread the word of Steemit around the world, so what better than to help me with what I will call, The Master Plan.

So what exactly is the Master Plan?

I personally sent a message to Milo after watching his most recent video, where he threatens to use other platforms to make Twitter's life hell.

So you must do the following three things to accomplish The Master Plan:

  1. Like/upvote my post, so other Steemit users can see The Master Plan
  2. Go to youtube (Milo delivers powerful speech on twitter ban) and like my message so he can see it.
  3. Write a personal message to him.

I would love to see the thousands of fans that Milo had in twitter transferring into steemit. I don't really have crazy expectations about this post, but all I hope is for Steemers to have a blast participating on The Master Plan

Enjoy life and enjoy the decentralisation of the networks

Cheers

@Bastian_Durden till someone comes out with a decentralise twitter ;-)

Sort:

yes there is freedom of speech but there is also uttering threats, yeah you can say whatever you like but sometimes there will be consequences. for sure usually nothing happens, but if something did happen to someone who was being cyber bullied/trolled guess who would be the first suspect? getting banned/blocked from twitter is better than the troll getting his ass kicked at a bar like what would happen to most trolls if they tried to behave in public like they do online.

I've seen the topic going around, but don't care enough to know the details, if he was being an asshole sometimes that has consequences... I doubt he was banned for sharing political ideas or ground breaking physics etc lol which would be something worth bringing up freedom of speech.

Yes hopefully with sites like steemit the trolls will be downvoted into oblivion

There is no freedom of speech if you're using a corporate platform like Twitter. They don't have to provide that for their users, it's their private choice what they want to do.

Usually they have a vested interest in providing their user the illusion of freedom, but never the real thing. If you want the real thing, then it has to be a platform specifically designed for free speech.

Twitter is going down the chute fast, as it seems these days the only people who care about it are a few trigger happy feminists and the CNN. My bet is that in a couple of years at most it'll go away in a very magical way, similar to what happened to MySpace.

Good riddance. Anyone remember MySpace? Exactly.

what is going to crush twitter and FB etc is definitely sites like steemit etc but because they will prove to the world that they've been having their time stolen by these sites without being paid for our time. especially the people who have spent countless hours managing all the FB groups for free all these years. After using steemit for these last few weeks it has become obvious to me that FB is worth billions to its shareholders and as an advertising platform for one reason... we choose to use their site and bring our value to it. So of course we deserve to get paid our proportionate fair share of the sites "worth"

myspace went extinct because a better platform came about... now reddit will become extinct and when FB's replacement comes out will be the day FB begins it's slow death. lol I don't even think it'll be that slow if FB replacement is done well and the only difference is between users/content providers receiving meer "likes/points" Vs likes/votes plus getting the bit of money they earn then the change over will happen rather quickly lol FB won't be able to offer any competition... FB's beatdown will look like "child abuse" ;)

addition to my first comment... I watched his video, he makes some good points for sure. sounds like he may already know about steemit or other sites that may be coming. even so your commenting will get the attention of his viewers which is awesome.

good job on ya, Cheers
