Architecture - Mind Blowingly Awesome
Nan Hua Temple
This is the largest Buddhist temple and seminary in Africa. Unfortunately for me it was closed on the day I stumbled upon this marvel. I will make note to do a full review once I actually get to go inside. The temple is situated in Bronkhorstspruit South Africa.
The thing that I love the most about this style of architecture is the attention to detail, I have never in western civilization seen so much detail in something as simple as a roof?
The Dragons placed at the entrance fascinate me as they stand as sentinels to guard the way. And the entrance archway is stacked full of architectural detail, I kept me occupied for a long time just studying the patterns.
I would love to see such dedication and commitment in western workmanship, it instills a sense of pride and respect for your labour that can come in no other way.
Great post, I never knew this was the largest one in Africa. I learned something new today.
I have seen it from the highway a few times as I drove past on my way to Witbank, but never really took the time to go have a look. I just happened to be working in the area, and decided to pop in, and to my surprise it was much bigger than I thought. Like I said, I would love to go on a day that they are open to the public.
