Diary Of A Steem Pusher

in #steemit7 years ago

I lost my password about a year ago, luckily i got it back with a little help from my friends just three weeks ago, just in time for the latest price hike. I needed £1300 ($1600) to start a stall in Canterbury, England, I have around $6200 in my Steemit account. So I transferred my Steem into Bitcoin and ventured into London in search of a Bitcoin ATM.

I should probably mention at this point that I'm a crypto noob and have never used crypto or indeed owned any, apart from the Steem that I have earned on Steemit.

The Journey Begins

10:30 a.m. Little Lebanon, Edgeware Rd. London

As I walk down the road with the roar of the busses and the chattering of Arabic, the gorgeous smells of shwarma kebabs got to me, unlike the ATM which unknown to me, I wouldn't get to, because there were none in this area.

11.0 0 a.m. Oxford St. London

Walked onto Oxford St, same as Edgware rd without the delicious smells, just tourists and cold fingers. I rang Satoshi Point call centre and was directed to Chinatown Soho to a very small candy store. Bingo!! I saw an ATM, but it didn't buy it only sold.

At this point the smell of roast duck and the charsui pork was too much to bear, a plate of rice was ordered, had to be done, I'm only human.

12:30 p.m.Still in Soho. London

Just finished eating, full of duck, pork and a smattering of MSG, I aimlessly wandered into a Bureau de Change, to find a bitcoin ATM, no luck. Called SatoshiPoint Call Centre again, and was directed to a Post Office about a mile away.

1:15 p.m. King's Cross & St Pancras (Near Eurostar Terminal)

I asked; 'Do you accept Bitcoin?'

'We no buy!' Came the reply.

Getting despondent, ring call centre again, this time was told that none of the ATM's have been filled since December 20th, but may start to be filled again on the 10th of January. Ah! too late for me I need the cash now. The stall in Canterbury can only be got in January.

Things were not looking good, The Centre advised me to change the bitcoin into litecoin, and was directed to a vape store in a North London suburb, that I was assured had cash in the ATM. So off I went to Hendon on the Subway.

44:30 a.m. Hendon

As I walked into the shop, I saw a young Nigerian kid telling the owner of the place that the machine had swallowed his money. But luckily for him the ATM engineer was in the store, so ten minutes later he got his money back. So I asked the engineer if he could help me sell some litecoin, because I'd never done a transaction before.

The kid who had got his money back, overheard me and offered to buy them from me, however he asked where I got them from and I explained that I had sold some Steem, which led me to explain all about Steemit which turned into a half an hour conversation and demonstration. The engineer left.

I took them to the website and showed them some posts, and when they saw the $4500 in my account , they asked if I wanted to sell some more steem. I explained about the powering up system and that I couldn't sell it to them all at once. They then said that they'd buy as much steem as I could get my hand on. It was at that point I realised that I was a Steem Pusher.
