Forum nº2
New Year's Expectations
The theme of this debate will be about the expectations around Steemit for this new year. This forum will discuss what has not been said and what is already on the table.
Thinking about this new year and everything that happened last year, we would like to talk a little about what can be improved in 2018 and the problems that remain to be fixed. What bothers you, what you like and what causes you uncertainty.
- What bothers you? The hidden transactions? The fact that users only seek to post and receive money instead of supporting and reading other posts? Alternative users? The voting circles? Lack of control over the administration?
- What do you like? The great influx of users? The variety of themes? How many new users and cultures can you access with a couple of clicks? How many trips or videos? The fact of receiving an income for publishing what you like?
- What causes you uncertainty? The variation of the coins prices? The votes they give you? The payment you will receive? Will someone read your exciting story? Will they see your video to which you dedicated so many hours?
We wait for your comments.
- This is the beginning of a serie of forums, more is for coming, we hope that you could take part in the work to preserve the integrity of our comunity through your ideas and arguments .

Steemit is full of potential, but abuse could bring it down. There are those at the top and bottom who are just trying to extract all they can, but there are also a lot of good people doing cool stuff. I've likened it to the wild west many times. There is nobody in full control, but we can build something good here. The next Hardfork may allow steemit to really grow. It needs to get to millions to be taken seriously, but that may change the nature of it. I'm excited to see
What I never understood here is the downvoting wars. OK, I can understand it when someone abuses. But in the case of MarkBOSS account who was curating for Curie and then posting a compilation of his curated posts suggested for Curie in a sort of news feed, I could never understand it. Some say it was spam, but then spam is unsolicited e-mail. Sorry, this is the exact thing we don't have here. So, when he picked someone's post and considered it worth mentioning in his TOP posts in some category post then it is spam, when someone comments on my post advertising his/hers blog then it isn't. He is not the only one who was subjected to this procedure, I have found some woman who thranslated half of the Steemit commands in Hebrew, being heftily flagged. So, shouldn't this flagging be reconsidered in stead just in some vindictive spree on the less liked?
As long as there's free speech, I'm extremely postive about Steemit.
It is not perfect and there's dodgy stuff going on, but as long as people like you are able to denounce it I feel there is some accountability in place.
However there is the risk that the coming update/fork will bring in censorship... and posts and comments will start disappearing from the site.
You warned about this in one of your excellent investigative posts months back:

I would like to see an influx of quality users. Bloggers with good content, People with ideas they wish to share & though leaders
I would also like to see the steemit inc management team act more professional...these tit for tat posts, comments and votes are not good corporate governance and not good for steemit
