Hello everyone, I trust you all are doing great and beautiful at heart, today yet another day I am going to write on Basic Security on Steemit as it is concerned with my achievement task 2 for proper understanding of how my keys are meant to be used and protected very well. I have read and understood the purpose, regulations, and attributes of each key that I got after my registration. Below am going to give vivid explanations of how those keys work concerning the questions asked for the achievement.
QUESTION 1
HAVE YOU RETRIEVED ALL YOUR KEYS ON STEEMIT?
Yes, I have retrieved them.
Question 2
FUNCTIONS AND RESTRICTION OF THE KEYS
There are a total of four main keys, the Posting key, Active Key, Owner key and Master key, there is a memo key that serves as a back-end key for messaging encryption purposes.
Posting key
The posting key is used to Publish a post or comment
Modify post or comment, Upvote and downvote, content resteem, Follow people, Muting accounts. Also helps prevents a third party from making transfers from our wallet.
Active Key
Active key is a key that aids in financial transactions such as power up/down, transfer of funds, Edith editing and making orders in markets, and conversion SBD.
It can also be used to make transactions on the wallet.
Owner Key
Unlike the Master key. This key has additional permission to modify an account key including our owner key, It is a very important key. It is used to recover accounts or change other keys and should be securely saved offline.
Master Password
The master password or key is used to drive all other keys for your account, as it can recreate including the owner key.
Question 3
HOW I PLAN TO PROTECT MY MASTER PASSWORD.
Since its the most important of all, I had to make a copy as a pdf file of the master password and saved it in my email, after that I printed it out securing it in the dairy where I keep most of my important documents for better safety and easy access for me to reach anytime the need arises which is only known to me alone.
Question 4
HOW TO TRANSFER THEM TO ANOTHER STEEM USER
Firstly You need to access the webpage www.steemitwallet.com then log in with your username and your master password, Then it opens balance click on Steem, click on Transfer and it will open, you then type the user you are sending the token to, and the amount you would like to send then click next, use the activation key to complete the transaction process.
Question 5
STEPS ON HOW TO POWER UP MY STEEM
You would first click on Steem Under Balance and then click on power up, input the amount you want to power up then use the Active key to complete the transaction process.
Conclusion
Key security is one of the important aspects of checks and balances to protect and save guard tokens from external forces such as hacking or fraud activities.
