The power of faith: By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. 1 Corinthians 15:2
The apostle of the Gentiles preached the faith and the Kingdom of God in the Church of Corinthians to the pagans for a year and a half, the book of the acts of the apostles tells us, and in this city many people generously embraced the faith, and it was formed by the fervor of Paul a thriving Christian community.
But with time the difficulties did not take long to reach this community, because the teaching of the gospel was fundamentally oral at that time, the first gospels were written in the greek language, towards the end of the first century.
Because of this problem, Paul dedicated two letters especially to this community, to correct the community of heresies and transmit the saving power of faith in the true gospel of our Lord.
That is why Paul wrote to them:
"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain" 1 Corinthians 15:1-2.
Paul explained to the believers of the corinthian church that the word of the gospel is the source of all spiritual blessings for man, because the word is truth, way, and life, as Jesus explained in John 14:6. Jesus in the gospels is the "son of man", the personification of the perfections of God, and by his death and resurrection humanity received the redemption of its sins; this is the fundamental message of Paul and the gospel.
And Paul affirmed, that if we follow fables, myths, or gossip tales as if they were true, our path is in vain, let us remember that at that time Christianity was confused with Gnostic ideas, giving rise to Gnostic Christianity. The times in which Paul preached, Christianity as a religion was not established, and many things were discussed, including the divinity and resurrection of Jesus; in this way Paul expressed this problem: "But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?" 1 Corinthians 15:12.
