Beach Wednesday - Or the reasons why you do not need to drag your heavy DSLR through sand on vacation.steemCreated with Sketch.

This is my first Wednesday on steemit and i see that you guys are having fun on the beach today :)

I wanted to add to this topic after watching your amazing images. First - having your big camera around all the time. And the other - whining that one does not have expensive pro equipment to do great photos, hence they are limited to creativeness.

All images were made using phone camera only and not edited in any post production software whatsoever and no filters applied of any kind.

So i was on the beach last week, and i had my Phone camera with me. The day was amazing. (phone cameras have super wide angle for lanscapes and such)

So i sat down and started reading a book. (Look at the DOF and macro capabilities.) 20160821_105639.jpg

At the same time appreciating the nature and flora.

The sun was setting so it was too getting too dark to read. (but not too dark for my phone camera to take images)

I was watching how the last rays of the setting sun were breaking and playing in the grass.

And since it was getting colder we broke out a fire (low light performance is also amazing)

If you are still here and reading i have a few simple tips for you if you want to improve on your photography below.

Big Expensive Pro Camera.
While it certainly has it's advantages it's not my choice of equipment of dragging around when trying to have some fun on the beach.

  1. It can get stolen, while you having a swim as it attracts a lot of attention.
  2. It makes other people feel uncomfortable when you are taking images with a huge lens attached and pointing their direction.
  3. You can easily get fine grains of sand in it, and trust me, it's not a good idea at all.

Smaller Mirror-less Camera such as Sony a6300!
This is my personal choice when traveling, fooling around as it is small, lightweight and it packs a punch!
I am planning to do a review of it in the nearest few days purely from users perspective with examples, so if you are interested stay tuned.

And My All Time Favourite - Cell Phone Camera
It is always with you, always! Even when you sleep. Am i not right? :) And Modern Cell Phone cameras, are amazing. Of course they have drawbacks and limitations. But i hate when people whine that they can not make a decent shot and pursue photography just because they do not have an expensive camera! It's not that camera that is taking images, it is you. Gear has it's benefits, but today's phone cameras are super powerful. They can shoot in Manual Mode and even RAW Format.

So i wish everybody had a nice sun tan today and stay tuned and share your stories! :)

Cheers,
David

Wonderful photos, and I agree. I think phone cameras are quite incredible!

yes, it's amazing how fast the technology is progressing :)

Great easy reading tips! You're right, half or more than half my holiday shots are made with my mobile camera; I can whip it out of my pocket easily and not miss the shot!

Thanks @ackhoo ! And you are right, phones are very convenient utilities :)

Hey David! Some people just need talent to do great shots even with a phone camera :) - Thanks for participating at BeachWednesday! You may wanna join SunThursday some time, too. I am the curator of both of them, so nice to meet you! That are really great pictures. I love the angle. Steem on!

Hi Liza, nice to meet you :) I definitely will. Just need to find a way how to keep track of it all lol all it takes is practice, anybody can take nice pictures. Full steem ahead, lets keep in touch!

Exactly all you need is practice :) Hope to see you around! Liz

Yeap, already starting to get my ropes a lil bit :)

My phone is the best for me as I always have it with me ;-) Better a phone to photograph than a nothing ...LoL
