The Bird family migration has begun!

Preparations have been underway all week in the Bird nest! Between cooking and baking, shopping and cleaning, it’s been a full week! Nothing makes me happier than to share favorite meals and treats when the kids visit. Like most young families, they live busy lives with very little pampering!

That’s where we come in, right?

With a grandson on the scene, quick and portable treats are a must! This week I dehydrated raisins, something he truly loves! They’re so easy to make, prepping ahead of time I find they’re amazing, nothing like something you buy at the market!

Washed, prepped and on the trays!

Dehydrate slow and low!

Day 3, still dehydrating!

Not quite ready yet!

Day 4, we’re ready to go!

You won’t find anything better than raisins made this way! My daughter always says they’re like a party in your mouth! These won’t last long!

This morning…

I stepped into the kitchen ready to make a fresh batch of cookies. Suddenly Mr. Bird mentioned we had a visitor and that I might want to grab my camera. Look who was sweetly perched on our Coco Plum! Breakfast time for the birds…tiny Anole lizards! We both enjoyed a nice chuckle before heading back to the kitchen.

Remember the cookies and applesauce…

I shared the other day. Well, we have the applesauce, now it’s time to make the cookies! Cranberries and Chocolate chips!

Healthy Cranberry Chocolate Gems!

  • Almond flour (1 ½ cup)
  • Coconut flour (3 tbsp.)
  • Birds Pear-Applesauce (2 tbsp.)
  • Baking Powder (1 tsp)
  • Coconut Oil (1/4 cup)
  • Maple Syrup (3 tbsp.)
  • Vanilla (1/2 tsp)
  • Dark Chocolate Dairy free chips (1/4 cup)
  • Dried Cranberries (1/4 cup)

Almond Meal and Baking Soda

were combined in one of my favorite mixing bowls.

Ohhhh the applesauce...

so rich and tasty! With a couple of jars in the fridge, we can spare a tablespoon or two!

Added to the dry ingredients...

along with the Maple Syrup and Vanilla, give it a good stir! Don’t forget the Chocolate Chips and Cranberries!

Rolled into little balls…

and placed on a parchment lined baking sheet, they’re ready to bake! Give them a little sweet press with your spoon! Into the oven for 12 minutes at 350 degrees! Golden brown, oh so beautiful! Let them cool, I know it’s tough, lol.

And as always, blessings to you all!

I know, having them here is such a blessing. I love cooking for them, treats galore :) Needless to say, they don't last long, lol

Hand dried raisins are so delicious, its been so long since i had some. Amazing recipe:)

I know right? So much better than what we get at the market :) I hope you'll try making some soon! :) Thanks @georgeboya!

I love it! I'm looking forward to one day spoiling grandchildren rotten and then sending them home full of sugar! Maybe caffeine too! :) (just kidding)

To me it's incredible to see that you dehydrate your own raisins. That's fantastic. When I was a boy everything was store bought. I always thought that pumpkin came only from a can! Such a child from the late 20th century I was.

Oh believe me, I;m having fun, lol Every treat I can make, he loves it! Thanks @wwwiebe :)

I am craving for sweets at the moment, your cookies attracted my focus straight away!

So glad you enjoyed them @roselifecoach! They're not around any more, in fact I'll have to make more goodies tomorrow! Such a treat to share with the kids

Flavorsome goodness in dried fruit and cookies, they look simply delicious @birdsinparadise, pity we cannot get Maple Syrup as readily as you something I really enjoy when we find it.

How cool to have a bird visit the birds and those look so good I hope your weekend has started well

We have a drying, we dried apples in it)) Do I need to pierce the grapes?

Seriously, your fam must LOVE visiting you. Thought of you today as I made a smoothie powder. Seeya on #fvm!
