Lapu lapu's 502th Kadaugan Sa Mactan

History is a part of how we become. Today I wanna share a wonderful experience I had with my kids. For the longest time I haven't been to this event but since my kids really insisted we came.

I really don't like the crowd and the long wait but my kids were really anticipating this event so I prepared myself in going to this event.

The first hero of the Philippines Datu Lapu-lapu has fought for his tribe to free us from the Spaniards. This event is a celebration of the victory of the people of Mactan from Magellan.

For the first time the Kadaugan sa Mactan launches the Sadsad sa Kaugan sa Mactan. The participants of this events are the students of the 10 Districts of Lapu-lapu City.

From the street party that started at 4 pm continues upto the grand showdown at Mactan Shrine at 6 pm finished at 10 pm.

We didn't expect to be this long but honestly it was worth watching them they were all so good. Each of the presentor justifies the story of the life of Lapu Lapu and how he met his better half. It was also explained how Lapu-lapu and his tribe planned and know how to strategies in defeating Magellan.

One reason I attended also was to give support to our students who competed. And with all the effort they have done I was so happy because they were the 2nd runner up. All the hard work paid off.

Indeed this event is something to look forward to watch again. I was tired and hungry afterwards but with all honesty I would still choose to watch again next year. I AM PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO AND PROUD OPONGANON.
