KidoCode | Programming for Kids

My son introduced me to KidoCode which is a place where they encourage kids to do some coding / building mobile apps or even programme stuff with arduino. I must say that after a quick browse in the website, I decided to signup both my kids for a free trial.

Located at Solaris Mont Kiara , Kuala Lumpur , they did make it easy to find with such a big banner which one just can't miss. My kids were excited with the idea of learning the basics of coding which is apparently well talked about kids their age.

By looking at the banner, you already have a rough idea as to what they would be teaching. However, upon going in and learning more of what they do , I must say that I was pretty much impressed at their methods.

They do have close to 3000 students now, however its not the typical classroom style of learning. They don't even want to be known as a "learning centre" as everyone who works there is there to help you and guide you. Kids are encourage to start the habit of "self learning" . This was immediately put to the test where kids were straight away ushered to their own workstation and then guided thru a series of videos and tutorials.

Then , the kids are then provided with "tasks" by doing small snippet of codes to complete the tasks.

These are the more senior kids which are already on their own little projects / activities. Be it a mobile game application or some web development, the team at KidoCode just made it easy and very approachable as what I observed.

Kids at KidoCode are provided with "unlimited food/snacks" and "unlimited drinks" ... they wanted to give the experience of a Google like office where the kids worked on Activities / Tasks and completed them at their own pace.

Even though the session only lasted 3 hours , they walked away with a certification and first hand experience in learning Phyton language ! Yeap I kid you not ! In a separate room where the parents were ushered to , we were shown the progress of our kids there and then. I must say that they were surely know how to impress.

Taking the very uncommon approach in teaching methods, I'm sure that KidoCode would go a very long way and would be successful. As for the price, that's something which I should not reveal , however its best to go for the trials and let you and your kids experience KidoCode .

Cheers and hope you had a great weekend !

It's actually a brilliant concept bro... Perhaps soon they will open a branch in KK

Entrepreneurs start at really young age now

this is really interesting method of education and really efective, if your kids get into self learning at young age and the same time at "programming" where once you learn it, imagination is the limit! and kids have a lot of imagination you just have to explode them habilities

That's a great initiative, I wish I had that while growing up I always loved programming but never really dedicated time to it, thank you for sharing.
