The Trip to ........
We left this wonderful small town (PATTI) on the Mediterranean coast of Sicily on a Saturday afternoon, and looking forward to our long journey to Thailand our next destination in this long journey, we waited at the train station in Patti for the train to Palermo.
Tomorrow morning early we would take our flight to Rome, the train arrived on time and very soon we were on our way, the trip was nice and comfortable let’s not forget that in Europe the train is one of the best public transport, taking you on any destination you have, on very low budget price. Soon we were arrived at Palermo main train Station and we were greeted by a very known chain in the US, McDonald's so we decided after more then 3 months that we could just go and indulge on a nice old style burger and fries, it was good and with our surprise it actually tasted some way different then in the US, was that because the product they used or was just that we do not remember the taste (hahaha). After eating we made our way to a close Hotel, good to pass the night and very close to the station, the day after we were to woke up very early to take the bus to the airport, so very early we went to sleep. The morning started early 4 am we made our way to the train station from were in the front the bus leaves every half hour and so we were on our way to the airport, with our surprise the bus was full and when we got at the airport was really busy.
A quick run down the gate and we were on the flight, and ready to fly to Rome. :).
Rome: all the airport I have see in many year of travel this is one of my preferred, easy to go around and lots of restaurant to eat we had a great meal at one of the place, but then again, you can’t get wrong when it comes to food in Italy, we rest on one of the recliner they have all around the airport giving you even more the sensation of how Italian people like to enjoy life in every moment of there day, and then our time to board was here very soon we were on the flight from Thai Airlines on the way to Bangkok.
Service on the Thai Airline was superb food was excellent and every detail was taking care. I fall asleep shortly after the meal and the next thing we were waken by the friendly staff for breakfast, we were approaching Bangkok the excitement start getting inside us, we were asking our self what we would have find and if after Italy we would be happy, we know that Thailand was very different in Culture, but we had lots of hope to enjoy the next few months like we did in Italy.
We were greeted by a very friendly staff at the airport and we understood that it would be a trip of a lifetime, the immigration and custom was very fast, maybe because we arrived at 5:30 am but the line was fast like no other I see, and as fast as we arrived we were with our visa on the way out of the Airport. ( For most of Europeans and US citizen you get a 30 day visa on Arrival, and you can extend it by 30 days more going in one of the many Immigration office they have around the country, more on that on another post ).
Soon we were out on a Taxi on our way to our condo, we rented a condo so that we could cook sometimes at home and enjoy our own night inside watching tv or just relaxing, and it was a good point between north and south of the country and a good base for exploring Southeast Asia.
Our first trip out was a wonderful experience, the city public transportation were second to none and all signal and announcement was in Thai and English making your way around the city much more easy, very soon we discover there enormous Mall ( Terminal 21, Siam Center, Ekkamai ) they were of a splendor long going from the mall in the US, here people still go to the mall for everything from shopping to just have breakfast or lunch, the city is full of temple and any store you have in your country you would find it here.
Street are chaotic and traffic can be really heavy like any big city in the world, we try the tuk tuk and is an amazing ride.
At the end of the day we were so tired that the we just had to give up on staying out and we went back to the condo and went to sleep ( tomorrow would be another day )
Good Night Thailand.
What an amazing adventure!
