What is on your Desk?

What is on your desk.jpg

My desk is my sanctuary. Upon this sacred space, I offer my hands and soul over to the gods. Deeply moved by a higher power, I surrender all control. I succumb to the song of the muses that entice me to drift away into the ethers. Others may see my body typing away at the computer or blankly staring at the screen. But in my mind, I am the black widow weaving my web of truth packed as metaphor, and symbolism for your aesthetic pleasure. I don’t see a blank page, I see a world of endless possibilities. I am accessing multiple streams of conscious thought, mind walking through multiple timelines and parallel universes.

Mighty Metatron, pulls me into third heaven, Papa Legba rides my broken wings, opens the gates to bewilder my mind and ensnare my senses. Together we dance and climb the highest mountains, swim the deepest seas, see me as everything and nothing and then dropped back down to earth.

Eagerly as the scribes of old, I carve my experiences on paper, encode them on data crystals because I love you and I desire to show you the world through my eyes. I love to travel and since most of my traveling is done in my head, writing is the only way I know how to take possession of your mind and reveal to you the deepest darkest secrets of my soul.

Writing is intimate and takes courage. On the best days, writing is easy, words just purr on your lap. But sometimes, you must break down the door, claim your power and wrestle with your inner beast. During the dark nights, the infernal depths open to swallow you whole and you can either cower in fear or look straight into the face of your demons that seek to choke and block what you really want to say and make them your friends.

Welcome to my world! What is on your desk?

Caffeine

Such a cliché I know. I am a highly energetic person, so I limit my coffee intake to only one cup a day because when the muses come for me, I’m a machine. I can stay up for 36 hours without breaking a sweat. My partner @leap8 can attest to this fact.

Tarot Cards

I used to read professionally for people on and off for ten years. Only recently I decided to take my passion for writing seriously and make a career out of it. I incorporate my dreams, visions and my experience as a tarot reader in weaving my stories. Removing the psychic woo from reading cards, tarot at the heart is being able to translate the story the cards are weaving before your eyes. As you gaze deeply into the images, your emotions are triggered and sing as thoughts in your mind. And if images trigger ideas and open doorways why not incorporate it? One of my favorite authors, Stephen King has admitted to consulting the tarot cards for ideas. It is a great tool that can help get the creative juices flowing.

Crystal Skulls

I mind walk often and crystals are my allies. I meditate with my skulls because they have a way of unlocking and opening doorways within the labyrinth of my mind. Skulls remind me to burrow deep into the bone, crack open the marrow, and bleed because the death gods holding the keys demand an offering. Navigating the sea of story requires that you go deep, and as my muse once said to me, if you are drowning you might as well try to breathe.

Statue of Metatron

He is an Archangel and was said to be Enoch, the writer that brought to the world the tale of fallen angels. Enoch said that the Nephilim, the giants of renown, came from the stars and fell in love with the daughters of man. These beings taught humanity civilization and forbidden knowledge. The Nephilim remind me Prometheus, the titan that stole fire (knowledge) from the gods to help humanity evolve. Many writers say he is the Hebrew version of the Egyptian god and scribe Thoth.

The gods speak in song, words, images, numbers, and geometry. With Metatron as an archetype, open and alive within my mind, I have access to a vast archive of collective memory. I keep a statue of him on my desk as homage to the great cosmic scribe and historian.
