Water is life!

in #lifestyle5 years ago (edited)

Greetings friends.

My oldest daughter (@kathe-art) doesn't like to drink water. I must constantly remind you to drink water and that water is so important and necessary for the body. But I have noticed that most of the children do not like water, even my grandmother came to visit us for a week and she does not like to drink water either.

I could not spend many hours without drinking water. I really like drinking water, maybe because I live in a very hot area, and this month has been really hot. I usually drink natural water, it's healthier, but this month I mostly drank very cold water.

To Feel the water in my mouth I think it's glory, refresh your body is life. When I go out to the street to do some diligence and I run out of water, I find the road exhausting for spending a long time without drinking that vital liquid.

Every time I drink water, I thank God for that privilege of drinking water, many countries unfortunately do not have that privilege.

and that is something that I mention every day to my daughter, that she has a privilege of being able to drink all the water she wants, but she drinks a maximum of 1 full glass a day. When I remember her, she barely takes 1 drink or 1 sip, she can't get the full glass. I always mention to her the consequences of not drinking water and she tries to drink but does not like it, she feels nauseous. It is recommended 8 glasses of water a day.

Some of the benefits of drinking water are the following:

  • A correct intake of water moisturizes our body and cleanses it.
  • It allows a better physical performance especially when we exercise or when the day is hot like this month.
  • It has positive effects for the brain and concentration, since our brain is largely made up of water, and if we don't drink enough, it could become dehydrated.
  • Fight constipation.
  • It helps to lose body weight, because it can increase satiety.
  • Hydrates the skin and hair.
  • Regulates body temperature.
  • Allows the transit of nutrients properly in the body.

On the contrary, the consequences of not drinking water are:

  • Mainly damage to organs, such as the kidneys, brain, skin, heart and lungs.
  • Cell degeneration and as a consequence cancer.
  • Constipation.
  • Bad distribution of nutrients.

Our body is made up of approximately 70% water. (It depends on each organism and age) and according to the information that caught my attention about water, the organism is composed as follows:

The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs have approximately 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, the muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31. Source

So if you are one of the people who, like my daughter, do not like to drink water, take into account the information I leave you in this publication.

Absolute right

This is a very important post. I have never understood people not liking water. I have water with me all the time, and when it is hot or I am physically active I drink even more. I cannot imagine not drinking water.

So why did I start with "this is a very important post"? My wife has numerous ailments , including diabetes, and she is susceptible to dehydration.

Approximately 12 years ago my daughter and I had to take her to the emergency room because she was basically dehydrated due to very high blood sugars, and the fact that she was only drinking iced tea, which is a diuretic (expels water from the body). She was delusional and had lost her vision. She ended up in Intensive Care. She was in a coma. She was so dehydrated that the doctor had me sign papers giving him permission to to insert an IV in the neck. They had to do this because it was necessary to push so much fluids it would collapse veins in her arm. It took 5 days of pushing IV fluids into her for her to start coming out of the coma. Mentally she lost ground from this episode.

Then eight years later she was hospitalized again with early stage kidney failure, partially due to low intake of water.

Granted she had other complications impacting dehydration, but it gives you a little peak at how bad it can be if you do not intake enough fluids.

One of the disabled ladies we care for resists drinking water. One way to get fluids into someone is to make lots of soups. They will be getting more fluids this way, than with many other foods.

Thank you for sharing this post @blessed-girl.

Wao, I just read this Kathe, she got scared and had a full glass of water ... I think now she will be more receptive to the water.
Dehydration is so dangerous, thank God your wife is already well.

Unfortunately, cognitively she still has been impacted. She needs reminding to drink water and other things. And she forgets easily, and has difficulty remembering when things took place. It can be serious for sure.

How unfortunate that dehydration has left sequels. Today Kathe has been want to drink water.
