This cannot happen in Graphene-based chains thanks to TaPOS (Transactions as Proof of Stake).

They just make use of the Steem Power they have acquired. And with power comes both privilege and risk/responsibility.
Everyone's posts are automatically set to upvote as soon as it is posted.. so due to the 0.8.0 release and the 15 minute curation delay @blocktrades actually doesn't benefit as much as they would if they waited 15 minutes (as I understand it) so it's actually generous considering they[blocktrades] know that as a huge part of steemit all of their posts will trend..
Man, I would really want someone to write a well thought-out article, someone with the knowledge about wth is happening lately and what is causing this massive troll uproar. I have given up on trying to follow it on reddit as that site has become filled with shills.
The chat box at Poloniex crypto trading exchange has gone full muppet overdrive. There is actually trolls taking shifts copying and pasting the same SH!!T. I too would like to see some sorta unbiased journalist investigate this summer blockbuster. It gone all Hollywood sensationalism. Yes. 30 minutes after the creation gives you the most benefit. But it's gradual: the earlier you vote the bigger part of your curation reward ends up with the post author - which is not bad in some cases.

You might want to do it for the benefit of the author. If you see a nice post by an unknown author and feel you want to give up your award for so that the author gets more (and also the post has a bigger chance to be noticed) - then you vote early. So it's a kind of altruistic action.
But please note that this process is not black-and-white, e.g. if you vote 15 minutes after the creation you achieve an outcome which is something between voting after 0 minutes and voting after 30 minutes. You would need to refer to the official documentation for the exact algorithm that controls the curation reward.

ETC is like ETH just without the hard fork. Sorry, just wanted to sound smart for a second.
I get that this is important news that is a current event... But $2.5k for just sharing a link? Really? This is the kind of content whales want to promote? Do we want to tell new Steemit users that hey, we pay thousands for people who don't take the time to provide a brief summary and just post a link saying "hey go read this"?
Other users are putting in a great deal of effort into their articles, providing sources, summaries and paraphrasing but since this is @blocktrades I guess simply sharing a link is worth thousands eh? Disappointing.
I normally never post a link at all, I only write original material. I did it in this case as I think it's important to get this info to people fast, before they get scammed. Spending time summarizing a short article that leads with the most relevant info and quickly goes to other pertinent facts seemed a waste of time in this case.

Thanks for the info @blocktrades . I want to support @blocktrades comments here. I have been in the ICT industry for many years and NEVER have I been under more attacks of various nature since I becoming involved in the whole blockchain / crypto field. Always use Double Authentication where available and ALWAYS make sure all your protection tools on your computer is up to date . Happy Steeming!
