Living in the country (2) - That's What Friends Are For

When a friend asks you for help, you must say yes. Because that's what friends are made for. To help each other, to support each other, to enjoy together and to be together even when it is difficult.

In this post from last week, Living in the country (1) - Where do we buy food?, I showed the reasons why I lived in the country for a few days in the house of some good friends. It was their request that we move there and take care of their seven dogs because they were forced to leave for a few days.

It is difficult to have so many animals to take care of. First of all, you can't leave home.

These were the circumstances that brought us to a house full of dogs and with a huge yard somewhere 10km away from Bucharest (the city where we live and the capital of Romania).

My friends have a very nice house. Large (by Romanian standards) and beautiful. I spent most of my time in the kitchen.

Painted kitchen furniture is brought from Transylvania, it is not very ergonomic and practical but it was bought for the artistic effect. My friends are artists and love art in all its aspects.

Of course the dogs! They are everywhere, inside but dreaming of being outside ...

... or outside dreaming to be inside!

I said earlier how and why friends should be. I remembered a song I heard many years ago that says this much better than I do.

Being on Friday again I should also talk about shopping, we are just in @dswigle's challenge, #MarketFriday! I did the shopping last week and I showed this in the post mentioned above Living in the country (1) - Where do we buy food?.

Now I will show what I did with the products I bought, how I prepared the food for all the souls in that house.

My wife and I had a barbecue again. Because it's the easiest way to cook and because my friend has a big hob in the garden and cooking is more enjoyable and easier.

The advantage of this way of cooking is that you can put all the ingredients at once. Everything is ready quickly and if you are hungry such a food is ready in about 15 minutes.

The simplest part is over. Our food. There are seven more to feed. Here is more work. I have to go to the dogs kitchen.

Here it was harder and longer and after everything was done it was still a problem. Large amounts of hot food cool down over a long period of time. Cute dogs still have to wait until they can eat. They are quite calm and quiet. Have patience.

In the end and at the end of a tiring day, the dogs' food is ready. It has cooled and can be distributed.

Mission accomplished! As I said at the beginning ... what are friends for? Now I realize that dogs are considered man's best friends!

Now I should put a flower to cover all the challenges initiated by our friend @dswigle. A flower for #alwaysaflower!
