ULOG Day 10 : Sawah Lingko, a Unique Rice Field Shaped Like a Spider Web in Manggarai
Dear steemians and uloggers friend....
Initially, one of my research team friends showed me a photo from his cellphone. Photo of rice fields. Yeah, take a photo with the background of the rice field, but the shape is unique like a spider web. Of course I am curious to go to that place too. Maybe there are crop circles made in aliens in Manggarai 😀. Unfortunately my friend is pretentious to keep secret where the rice fields are. Out of curiosity, I asked Umar, the son of the district head where I stayed for a few weeks in Cancar, Manggarai. Jimmy said he would take me and one of my friends who wanted to go there after school. We then ride three of them there in the afternoon. This spiderweb rice field is only 300 meters from my research basecamp in Cancar.
We climbed a small hill in the village of Meler so that the view from the spiderweb rice field looked all over. On this Weol hill there is a local village drum house. The father who lived in this drum house, Pak Blasius invited us to fill the guest book and fill in the voluntary donation box that was there. He also said that everyday there are many tourists who come to this weol hill, especially foreign tourists. The Lingko rice field, the way in Cancar, is the largest in Manggarai. The Manggarai tribe divides the land or garden in the form of a net called lodok like the original cone shape of their traditional drum house. The method of distribution is to install teno wood in the middle and tie a long rope pulled to the end. The size of the division is determined by deliberation and position in the tribe. According to the Manggarai community this is a fair way to divide the fields and gardens. We then walked past the short track behind the drum house. At the top of the hill this is the best view of the spiderweb rice field can be seen. Luckily I saw this rice field when it was green, cool soothing to my eyes. Speechles deh. It turns out that the Indonesian people not only have terraced terraces that are very beautiful but also unique rice fields resulting from the culture of the Manggarai tribe.
