Crazy habits are older than your grandmother! (Funny)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

People did in the past and still do bizarre things. We people are just a little weird. This has also been evident from the previously published articles about the bizarre medical and psychological treatment methods used in the past. There are countless strange everyday actions that were found to be the most common cause of the world. But today we are looking forward to it ...

Very superstitious

That people used to be more superstitious than in our time is not a surprise, but you would think that there was still some limit. Do not walk under ladders, do not open umbrellas indoors, do not walk over the ground and occasionally throw some salt over your shoulder. But in the 17th and 18th centuries, the French allowed a whole new level . Warning: animal lovers, skip this piece ... In France, cats were burned alive for good luck at this time . Through the so-called link between cats and witchcraft, these people believed that the burning of the poor beasts would bring happiness.

Gold water

In ancient Rome urine was considered to be very valuable and useful. It was used to clean with. However, I can not imagine that you have a very fresh smell. In addition to using urine as a (discernible) detergent, urine was also used to brush and bleach teeth. Furthermore, the ancient Romans were also convinced that the golden water miracles did for the skin when it was processed in a refreshing mask. Urine is also a good solution to consider when you suffer from winter feet.

Food for the country

The Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt had a strange ceremony. They believed that the world was created by the ejaculation (yes, you are reading it well) of the God Atum. As a result of this belief, the Pharaohs began a public ceremony in which they ejaculated in the Nile, which flows through the land. The Egyptians believed that the act would bless the land and yield a good harvest. Fortunately, public masturbation - let alone complain - is illegal in most countries today.

Black is the new white

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in England in the 16th century, a remarkable beauty trend emerged. Queen Elizabeth so much that her teeth were severely affected. Many teeth went rotten and fell out and the remnants became black. Her subjects thought this (wonder above miracle): HORRIBLE! Because they admired the queen, women imitated the look of the whole country . It also became a kind of status symbol because sugar was very expensive at the time. The black rotten teeth were thus indicative of wealth.

Not the children!

Even weird habits , okay. But if you are involved with others, and you're welcome baby and children, think about it. Previously, one had the strange habit of helping young children to calm down. Another habit that raised my eyebrows was the trend in the early 1900s: brush your baby with butter, olive oil or lard. This to get rid of waxy lubrication from the uterus. It took a little too long before one realized that 1) brushing your child with greasy foul does not help to get that other greasy junk off and 2) that greasy junk went off with some time of its own. Finally, a strange habit that my stomach really makes of. Children out of the window hung in a rambling carriage to get enough sunlight and fresh air.

But who are we now to laugh and cry on these old habits. In a few hundred years, people are equally critical of our self-sticks, avocado obsession, emoji talks and fidget spinners. "Just" is once a flexible and culturally-defined concept!
