My Journey as Developer: From Struggles as Junior to becoming the person i am today 🧑‍💻

in #journey6 years ago

Going back, you always think about the moments that have defined you as the person you are today. I think everyone has had his ups and downs in the journey so called ‘experience’. And My Journey as Developer: From Struggles as Junior to becoming the person I am today is a piece of this experience that I want to share with you today in this post.

Am I ready?
Being in the last year of your University studies and not having worked a single moment till that moment, your thoughts are: Am I ready, for the new phase of my life as a programmer, am i ready to get into the software development industry. You are at a point that you have focused all your energies on your studies and shifting to the next phase will have you stucked at the same thoughts. I am saying not having worked a single moment, because it is difficult to find a good job and succeed at your studies at the same time. You can be good at both, but not excellent at both (correct me I’m wrong). I was not ready at the moment, that was my first struggle but i promised myself that i should be. I removed the thoughts that i was not ready and i put a goal in my mind, the goal to achieve my dream of becoming a successful developer, engineer and a great entrepreneur

Am I good enough?
Once i thought i was ready, and got a breakthrough into my professional life, the struggle comes up again. And you think 🤔 am i good enough? Can i fit into this environment? And of course you will ask a lot of questions similar but you need to keep one thing in mind:
set your goals, follow your dreams, work hard every day and then you can archive greatness ⭐️⭐️

Every days can be all the days in the same time. Some days will you fail(don’t be mad 😉), some days you will succeed, but the goal 🎯 never changes. If you are a frontend developer, some people will tell you backend is better, if you develop in php some people, friends will tell you that php sucks and vice versa. It is weird some times but people have their opinions.

How do you continue?

  • Pick a tool/language/technology
  • Learn every day, and own that tool/language/technology
  • Solve problems, fix bugs, mentor other people, help building great things
  • Make sure you help other colleagues
  • Respect other people’s ideas 💡 and opinions

Working harding every day, from a junior developer working with simple css/html/js stuff, today i can design complex software and mentor other peoples

Believe in your self and others will support you too

Sincerely,
Gianni

I've been a developer for a long time. I love that you are always solving new problems. It can be frustrating at times, but you get to create cool stuff. Enjoy it.

Thank you. Indeed solving problems and creating cool stuff bring excitement to any developer. 😃
