Kubo and the two strings came to the cinemas in 2016, was produced in the United States, is an animated film made with the method "stop motion", is a technique that involves taking continuous photographs of an object making minimal changes of position, this sequence of images generates a scene in movement.

It is a manual work that demands dedication and time, for the creation of Kubo, articulated scale figures were used that were moved by hand by the operators.

In this gif we can see the realization of the technique, the clothes changes of the developer show that it took several days to achieve a millisecond of movement.

The plot is the story of a Japanese family, in a mythological context where magic plays a fundamental role. Kubo (voice of Art Parkinson) is eleven years old, is a child who has lost an eye when he was still a baby, so he uses a monocular patch.

He works in the town square telling magical stories of great samurai to help his mother (voice of Charlize Theron) who has been blind, on instructions she should not be away from home during the night because his grandfather Moon king would come for him to steal his eye like he did when he was a baby.

One day working in the distracted town stayed until nightfall, at the first ray of the moon came the witches of the night to take him to the night realm with his terrifying grandfather.

His mother using all his magic sends him to the magical world, where he will begin a crusade to find the armor of his father, following in his footsteps he faces his fearsome grandfather, the immortal Moon king.

It has a message of family unity, love and forgiveness, which combines in action scenes and a touch of comedy, it is a very complete film with a fascinating old photograph, the lights of the night are highlighted in the dark scenes.

This animation was nominated at the time to two Oscars in the category best animated film and best visual effects. I highly recommend it, it is a jewel that deserves to be seen.
