My Thoughts on Senator John McCain Being Diagnosed With Aggressive Brain Cancer

I just finished watching this news video about the breaking news and it doesn't sound good at all. Here's a link to that video:

Sen. McCain is likely to go through radiation and chemo through his recovery process. The doctors and family are making it sound like he's all good, but I'm not so sure.

It sounds like they are trying to protect his seat in the Senate as I'm sure once this news settles in that there will be some calls for the Senator to resign and allow someone else to take over his seat in the Senate.

Let's just look at the facts here. We have an 80 year old man with brain cancer that will likely have to go through some of the worst treatments known (radiation/chemo). This isn't something you just bounce back from and you're good to go back to work next week.

This could provide a very interesting situation. Kelli Ward, who lost to Sen McCain in the Republican Primaries last year, would be an assumed front runner in the event of a special election. She is currently running in the 2018 elections against Jeff Flake, but I'm sure she'd change that if Sen McCain couldn't keep his seat.

It'll be interesting to see how all this plays out!

Sad news. Unfortunately it sounds like the form of cancer he is being diagnosed with is very aggressive, and has a low survival rate even for younger individuals. I can't imagine he holds on to the seat much longer, the time would be better spent with his friends and family.

After his questioning during the Comey hearing I made a post questioning whether his age had become a liability in his duties, sadly it seems to be much worse than that.

I hope he can beat this, but it seems unlikely.

I do wish only the best for everyone, but my mother had a similar type of cancer. From start to finish, it was about six months, and she was in her 50's. But, with all he has been through, you never know.

Whether he keeps his seat or not, I hope he can bounce back from this. I heard on the news it's one of the most aggressive types of cancer. Let's just hope treatment goes well and he can move on with his life. I feel bad for the Senator.
