What is the Moon

Hello fellow steemians,

I was looking through some of my older photo shots taken with my Nikon D90, and in this case the Sigma 150-500mm lens. I very quickly settled on this image as being the best Moon picture I had.

It reminded me as a teenager growing up in the late 70's and early 80's how fascinated I was in astronomy and how much little more we know now than what we did then.

In terms of technology, we have moved on massively (mobile devises that are million times more powerful than computers that supposedly put man on the moon in 1969) , but our knowledge of the heavens hasn't really moved on by much at all.

I still wonder in amazement that the Moon is much closer to us than the sun but is just right in its size/distance ratio to perfectly cover the Sun in a solar eclipse, and even more amazed that a day on the Moon is always exactly the same time period as the Moon year so we on Earth never see the dark side of the Moon.
