DeviantArt Spotlight: Kevin Hong/ Chomcho
For this spotlight, I will be focusing on ten works done by Kevin Hong or Chomcho on Deviantart, a digital artist working and living in New York City. He has a unique anime-esque illustrative style and some very colorful pieces of art. Without further ado here are 10 of his works. If you want to look at more you can find his website here http://www.kevinhong.com/ or his DeviantArt here http://chomcho.deviantart.com/

Let me know if you enjoy this series and I will keep finding new artists to spotlight. We can also try to get some of them to come to steemit and post some content.
I'm not usually into this style, but I find these fascinating. Thank you for sharing (curating) content like this. People like me would never find this on our own...and we'd never discover some of the beauty that exists outside of our own little creative preference boxes.
No problem, Im glad you enjoy it
Wow, I love this style and am really drawn to it. oops no pun intended. But I see its done digitally. I cant imagine yet how. But thats why Im not the artist. Thank you for sharing his work. I want to see more and will check out the link. I really appreciate you bringing his name to the community here.
My favorite here is Catching Spirits how the one image just weaves itself through the trees.
This style just has a wonderful feeling to to. They are something Id want to own a copy of. Thank you for sharing
If they are digital models, their surface coloring is a blend of realistic and something called "cell shade".
100% cell shaded looks very simple cartoon-like, "NIM the Invader" was all 3d models fully cell shaded.
There are many more examples, NIM was the only one I watched.
These are extraordinary, this artist is truly incredible.
However, if these are frames from animated productions he's been a part of, it isn't likely he created the entire scene. Images this complex in a TV show or movie are never done by one guy, the work is always distributed to team members that handle separate tasks.
It isn't uncommon to see a team member post images he was a part of.
I know nothing about the shows (if they are) or the artist involved, but MAN these are well done.
----After re-reading the text, Kevin Hong lives in NYC. Sounds like these are a ONE MAN creation!!
YOW!!
Yeah it is, nice eye! Hes mostly a digital artist, to me his characters have a feeling similar to Miyazaki's characters, which is a huge compliment.
These are exceptionally good; thanks for doing a spotlight!
hes a really good artist, he has some more work I havent shown on his site if youre looking for more.
Great, thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out!
Love the art, especially the one with the dog. Upvoted! I love animals too. My dogs just joined SteemIt - check it out :)

A good spotlight mate! Very anime like style to this spotlight. I followed you and I am excited to see future content!
This work is outstanding! Very very striking! So glad to find this! Thanks for showing!
@calaber24p
Hey brother! It would be absolutely great if you were to contact the artists you spotlight and let them know that Steemit exists and that they could be posting their works and making hundreds of dollars!
If I were to contact Kevin and let him know that you were profiting from his work, I would feel like I was snitching on you. You think you could email him and let him know and perhaps even share some of your rewards with him?
That would set a huge precedent on this site. Yes, I understand so many others share things they like the way you do and users, like me, haven't got around to suggesting they do the same. Please don't feel like this is personal and I'm singling you out out of spite or something. Just I have to start somewhere with this suggestion.
Please let us all know what you plan to do.
I like your posts and think you are a valuable member of this site and I've followed you. You seem like a good person for the Steemit community which is why I'm coming to you. It seems like you care about the artists you are sharing. Please keep up the good work!
Cheers
I emailed him but I havent gotten a response yet. Ill try and send another one today, he might have thought it was spam or something.
Proud of you!
Thanks for listening to my comment without getting upset.
Hope he and the other artists you enjoy sharing respond as well.
Thanks!
No problem, in my thread from today you guys were raising valid points I shouldnt be profiting off of someone without letting them know. I like doing these spotlights and Ill continue to do them but maybe Ill email the person before hand . Its just hard because a lot of the people won't respond and I really want to show people their work.
Absolutely! We all want to share things we enjoy just like telling a friend about a new band to check out etc.
Really, you should be proud and take pride that you actually did the right thing by someone else. Please think of others when something like this happens again in the future. The extra time you put in making sure the original content creator is ok with making money on his work pays dividends in improving your own personal character and perhaps others will be inspired to ask for permission as well.
Anyway, keep doing what you're doing!
Peace!
actually I just checked and he responded, he said he enjoyed reading all the wonderful praise for his work, but hes not interested in joining at the current time. I told him that if he wants to come back at any time let me know and ill get him started.
AWESOME! I'm really proud of you!! You have done way more than nearly all other posters in this regard!
That is all I'm asking, my friend. Treat the artists as you would want to be treated. If he is ok with you using his works and profiting from them, then hot damn do it! Easy money doing something that you enjoy!
