Hey steem family, I just want to clear a few things up that I am seeing in my feeds lately.So first of all my question is, "in fear of what?". Do not get me wrong, facebook is one of our many competitors and I would say is also the main one, but as a steem user, I can clearly see the difference in journey for steemit.

Lets begin with the goals of steemit;

  1. Not only represents but creates a REWARDING opportunity for;
    Curators, remitters, merchants, shoppers, bloggers, commenters, community leaders, etc.
  2. Making decentralize distribution of smart tokens possible & easy.
  3. It is more content based for now at least, allowing it to be more of a motivation for curators to pool attractive ideas to the platform.

Now let us talk about the VALUE of the steemit platform.

I would say value is the importance and usefulness of some something and also its principles or standards. Comparing steemit to other social networks in how they generate income and allow users to earn from it is a revolution in the social network industry on a whole because we are given the OPTION on what to share about ourselves instead of it being sold or we being spied on without us being fully aware of this.

For example, if I add someone's phone number to my contacts on my phone, then I automatically see that person as a recommended friend on my facebook page, like wth!!!??
NO PRIVACY.

And guys think about this, if the other social networks had played with these same thoughts in their minds of how facebook may crush them, then they would not be where they are currently at right now. So facebook nor any other social network will not defeat steemit, only the users of steemit can allow that. Lets us not defeat ourselves.

Steem on!!!!

waiting for more from you caribbeanpot! keep motivating!

Do not forget censorship. A lot of people like me value Steemit because it is not able to censor view points. How often to you hear stories of Facebook, Twitter, et.al. blocking posts or banning users which they view as politically incorrect or not in line with their politics.

I just know I do not want an invisible hand tilting the scales.

Also with the content on the block chain - if Steemit ever goes off the rails, the content is there for others use in apps they build. This allows competition because the content is available in away it is not on other social networks. Competition makes us all better.

I think Steem needs to become more decentralized to compete.
