Taking advantage of spring with children through activities
Spring is one of the four seasons of the year, but it is undoubtedly the most anticipated by all species, as they directly or indirectly benefit from their arrival. Animals and insects resume their activities, which they had abandoned to hibernate.
Spring is the season for sowing and working in the gardens, for all these reasons spring has been constituted, throughout history on one occasion for the celebration, in an event of social importance.
Preparations for the spring with the children.
The activity should start in the garden, asking the children what things they expect to find during the visit. The children should be taught that they should take care of and respect the place to visit, that is, not by looking for shoots of a tree we should tear them away.
For the exit the children must go with their representatives, since they will be fundamental for the experience that will be lived in the place and which will have great benefits for the students.
What do we look for with this activity focused on spring?
To get children to enjoy an outdoor experience, through games and activities of search, recognition and movement, in addition to recognizing some characteristics of spring, through different senses, managing to approach some relationships of beings that live between yes and with the environment, establishing relationships between nature and life in society.
Activities in the garden.
Recognition of the place: The activity begins inviting the children to look for and recognize the typical characteristics of this season. Children should be divided into several groups, accompanied by the educator or an adult, each team should observe and identify, for example: new shoots in the trees, flowers, larvae of insects under the flowers, bird nests, among others that are found on the site. These characteristics can be identified through sight, smell or touch. The most significant examples to appreciate quickly are "a dry leaf and a very new one". Once the activity is finished, a summary of the details will be made.
Collection of pollen: A basket will be given to each group and the educator must have the site prepared with artificial flowers scattered in the place to perform the simulation. There will be two types of flowers on the floor perfumed with different aromas, each team will represent a swarm of bees that must collect one at a time, the stipulated time for the collection is ten (10) minutes.
Simulation of beekeepers: Children will be explained that just as animals and plants benefit from the arrival of spring, humans too. The same groups of students will play to be collectors of honey, this time the teacher and the representatives will be the guardians of the honey, which will prevent the children from approaching it. Children, in their role as beekeepers, should look for a puzzle in a container that simulates honey, but whoever is touched by the honeycomb guardian should stop participating. When all the pieces of the puzzle are obtained, the group must proceed to assemble it, to finish.
Those are nice ideas for activities. I plan on teaching my daughter how to garden and how to identify different plants when she is older. I like the idea about the pollen, bee game. Pollination is important in helping plants grow. That's a creative game to teach that lesson.
Hello, even with this game, you and your daughter can have a lot of fun, the fragrances to collect, can be created by you. Children feel more comfortable when they learn through play.
Recognizing and being in contact with nature helps us to value our environment. Good techniques for learning to be used with the help of different games.
Hello, thank you, I hope educators and parents can use it and see how much fun it will be.
A great collection of activities. I think the point is that we just need to get our kids outside and enjoying the fresh air and nature. There can be so many activities that can be done but first you need to make the choice to get your family and kids out of the house.
Hello, good point. Enjoying the outdoors is benefits for everyone. And in the search of wanting to learn, it's a great decision.
Very nice post i really like your activities in to do in the garden such good ideas thank you for sharing them:)
Life is a constant learning, in which you should look for the best strategies for both children and adults, enjoy and learn.
