Nightcrawler - a photo itinerary into the cool night air
I admit I am a sucker for night photography. Give me one lightbulb on an utility pole and I will call it art. Because I love night time. Almost no people, silence, lights to play with it and darkness to mold with your imagination.
The recipe is simple: your will, a tripod or any other object around you that you can lean on, a good high ISO camera, a fast lens, f1.4 open wide would be marvelous and, if you are a woman and like to roam around at night into the shadiest of corners, a pepper spray would be cool. Not necessarily for retarded 2-legged creatures called humans that might interact with you in a non-orthodox way, but also for..stray dogs. They chased me twice, once they really dented my tripod, my only tool for protection. Of course, in some western countries, there's no concept of stray dogs, let alone find packs of them in the god damn streets, like they are parading for dog rights.
Anyhow, night photography isn't about long exposure photographs. It never was. Photography doesn't need the technicals wonders as little artifices to become, why not, a piece of art. It needs sincerity and emotional intelligence. So no, in my book long exposures of Milky Way, the stars, up on a mountain, is not night photography, or photography for that matter.
Resteemed pt imaginea cu tonomatul si cea cu copacul in fata ferestrei. Sunt geniale!

U almost make me buy a DSLR again and start shooting :)
You should. It is my precious moments, me and my passion, roaming the streets. :) I bet you will find some measure of peace after the daily noise and agitation.
Everything looks different at night, its a whole new world. Great pics!
Thank you! I agree!
I'm a night owl too. I think I only ran into one dog in New York at night. Usually just peace and quiet. Great collection of images.
Thank you. As I said, second and third world problem the issue with the stray dogs. :)
