Fight and hysteria for "Nutela"
A big reduction in the price of a popular brand jar caused brawls in France, came to police intervention
A 70% reduction in the famous brand has sparked scenes of violence and hysteria in France, the BBC reported.
The price of 1.40 euros instead of 4.50 euro per jar caused the police to intervene after the customers collapsed.
The results were plucked, bleeding hands, crowded people and tension. Supermarket officials told local media about stress, while bravado buyers tried to grab the precious chocolate jar.
Similar views have been seen in shops all over the country, even described as "riots". One of the officers in the Intermarche chain says: "People were pushing, pushing everything, breaking another good, it was something terrible, and we had to call the police."
From another supermarket they say that, despite ugly scenes, they managed to sell at one time a good that is usually sold for three months.
Until now, such consumer behavior in France could only be noticed during Black Friday, experts find. Some anthropologists have also commented that such behavior was extremely surprising and unusual.
The company expressed regret for the incident, but stressed that the reduction was at the discretion of the respective supermarkets. Over 365 million kilograms of Nutela is consumed every year in 160 countries worldwide. The sweet temptation was created by the Ferrero family in the 1940s in Italy.
