Facebook Banned Cambridge Analytica, the Data Company that Helped Trump Win
Today Facebook announced it has suspended Cambridge Analytica from its platform. In a 60 Minutes interview, Trump campaign manager credited Facebook and Cambridge Analytica with helping Trump win. Facebook, which supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, is not going to "make the same mistake" in 2020.
In 2015, we learned that a psychology professor at the University of Cambridge named Dr. Aleksandr Kogan lied to us and violated our Platform Policies by passing data from an app that was using Facebook Login to SCL/Cambridge Analytica, a firm that does political, government and military work around the globe. He also passed that data to Christopher Wylie of Eunoia Technologies, Inc.
Facebook's decision is being seen at a direct attack on Trump, as the company had recently cracked down on conservatives, and even changed it algorithm to suppress conservative news sites. Read, "Confirmed: Facebook’s Recent Algorithm Change Is Crushing Conservative Sites, Boosting Liberals"
Facebook, which last week asked users whether it should allow child pornography, is cracking down on conservatives and Christians, even going so far as to issue a "strike" against a Christian comedy site, the Babylon Bee.
Yesterday Facebook's autofill suggestion included sexual content involving children. Read, "Facebook Apologizes for Auto-Suggesting Child-Porn Videos"
Last week Facebook was busted for asking users: "In thinking about an ideal world where you could set Facebook’s policies, how would you handle the following: a private message in which an adult man asks a 14 year old girl for sexual pictures."
Facebook has its priorities in order, if one understand what those priorities are.
Someone wake Myspace Tom. He is being handed a golden opportunity to get revenge on FB by revamping and taking back social media giant position.
It's time for a MySpace comeback. It was always more fun than Facebook anyway.
I still have a MySpace. But Steemit and Gab and others all have opportunities as well.
That's the trouble here: if you take Facebook's decisions on an individual-case basis, they don't seem all that unreasonable. It's only when you take in the behavior pattern - including those double standards - that you begin to smell overripe fish.
agreed
I thought Russia helped Trump to win, now we are told it is this data & statistics company.....? I wish people can make up their minds, I always thought it was the people who were just so fed up with the establishment, corrupt, career politicians and promises never kept that they decided it's time for change. I always thought the message Trump brought resonated with most of the voters in the USA and that is why Trump won. I still think so today. Can you imagine if the MSM did not hate him so much and supported him how he would break all previous records....?
It's time the world wakes up and recognizes that the people do not need politicians to represent them, the technology already exists to have immediate voting systems where the people can vote on direction and decisions directly affecting them on a daily basis. Politicians are obsolete.
Haha yeah. True.
There is something hypocritical going on when people only care for the civil rights of the group they identify with. I think it should be an all or nothing ideology in the sense that if a company like Facebook can discriminate, why should we stop anyone else? We can't cherry pick who gets civil rights, either we all do or no one should.
Your argument here can red pill some.
Thanks, I really hope so. I hope to be consistent and show people an ideology that can stand up to scrutiny. Just yesterday we had to watch all the sjw identity politic pushers on tv drop the cultural appropriation act so they could bring a dancing leprechaun into the studio! We can't get mad at the shill leprechaun (hits me close btw) though, we need to get angry at the hypocrisy.
You left out the part where those entities stole data from Facebook and its users. It is not an attack on Trump; it is an attack on thieves who stole from a US company.
Facebook blocked me from my own groups.
Facebook is pretty bad and we can look at Project Veritas for example of some of that. We can show people videos, links, quotes, to help people see how bad it is. And we got to be patient and ask people questions to red pill them to see this. People tend to be too busy and tired and sad and distracted to see truth. But don't lose hope. It can take years for people to see truth. Be there for people, everybody. Be persistent and involved, each day. That is how we make an impact.
Lol I like this guy. I was elected the ward 4 moderator, the lead at the voting station, in Manchester NH when James sent his crew to mess with guess who? All the voting moderators for letting dead people get ballets when he was pushing voter id laws. Believe it or not I hold nothing but respect for PV and James despite any of that because truth is truth and he had a point. I don't have to agree with everything they do or think, as long as they are honest I will support them.
