Burning season getting so bad we moved our event well out of town
We have events every now and then that we call "outstations" where instead of just hopping on a bus for half an hour to get to the location we will go on a multi-day vacation of sorts and involve all-day events combined with several (most of the time 3) running events into the getaway. This takes a LOT of work on the part of the people that have to make the trails because nobody, including them, are familiar with the territory we are going to.
This year for some reason the burning season that destroys the air quality of the area is particularly bad so we are moving quite a lot further from Chiang Mai than we normally would.
This is not a cherry-picked photo either. It literally looks like this every day. If you are on the ground you can't see the sun outside of a somewhat illuminated corner of the sky and this goes on for months. Every year the government has some promise or campaign where the leaders get together and say they are going to put a stop to it but they never do. People in Chiang Mai have been wearing masks during this part of they year long before it was required and multiple members of our Hash actually leave the city for several months a year because they already have sinus issues that get completely wrecked from January to March. It is truly pathetic that the city and the country doesn't do anything about this because it is not a new thing.
Therefore the outstation in the early part of 2022 has been moved all the way to Rayong, which is relatively far away from here.

It is really rare for us to go this far in our outstation travels and we realize it is a lot to ask from people because there is going to be a flight involved. Our members who have jobs, which isn't many of them, are probably going to have to give this one a miss and for that, we apologize.
The reason why we chose this particular beach is because it is near a populous area where we can get a bus to go party, but it is far enough away from these areas that we are going to have access to nature to do our runs nearby. It is an 11 hour drive or a 1 hour flight so I would imagine that most people will just fly outside of the lunatics that don't mind driving for half a day.
The good news is that one of our members knows the owner of the resort we have chosen so we have already been given the "green light" to do our runs in the surrounding countryside. The owner knows all of the property owners and has confirmed that no one is going to complain about the fact that all of our runs are basically exercises in trespassing. We are quite a respectful bunch, despite our silly outward appearance so I am sure there wouldn't be problems anyway.
So here is a chance for those of you that live in Bangkok or Pattaya areas to join us if you want to get a taste of what Hashing is all about. There will be about 30 of us in attendance and we are going to leave a certain amount of slots available for visitors or even people that have never Hashed before. If you would like to get involved basically all you have to do is make a booking at the hotel and join in. It could end up changing your life for the better!
