ACHIEVEMENT 3 TASK BY @chambas: CONTENT ETIQUETTE

in Newcomers' Community4 years ago (edited)

Hello to everyone. It is obvious that in every household, there is a landlord. And before you enter into this home you should know what the landlord likes and what he dislikes. Hence to live cordially and happily with the landlord, you must learn to know what he likes and dislike so you can abide by it.

This applies to every organization, institution, or group of people which is referred to as etiquette.
Now, what is Etiquette? It is simply laid down rules and regulations that are used to govern the behavior of people within a group, platform, organization, or institution.

Again Etiquette is "the rules indicating the proper and polite way to behave." The full definition is "the conduct or procedure required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in social or official life."source
Hence Steemit platform has its rules and regulations of which are very important to abide by. You are encouraged to do your post and not copying from others(be real you).

Also, you are not allowed to tag many people to your post. Often try to comment on others' posts so they will feel appreciated for the effort they put in.

Again embarrassment, fights, or arguments are not accepted on the platform, you should always try to be polite to everyone even if someone makes a mistake. Just to mention a few.

Now let's look at Plagiarism

Plagiarism is simply using someone's work(written text, art, or idea) as your own by not either giving a reference or acknowledging the owner of the work you are using.

In another context, is a type of cheating that involves the use of another person's ideas, words, design, art, music, etc., as one's own in whole or in part without acknowledging the author or obtaining his or her permission. Note that plagiarism is not limited to just written text.source

Plagiarism comes in various ways or forms and it includes; Mosaic Plagiarism, Hired Plagiarism, Accidental Plagiarism, Direct Plagiarism among others.

Just to explain a few of them...

Mosaic Plagiarism

This form of plagiarism occurs when the writer reuses a mix of words, phrases, and ideas from a source without indicating which words and ideas have been borrowed and/or without properly citing the source. souce

Accidental Plagiarism

With this type of plagiarism, the writer neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution. source

Direct Plagiarism

This involves the use of word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion. source

How do one reference a text of a picture from another source

The above picture shows you how to reference a picture. So the text in the green box is the URL created by steemit for the picture you have uploaded from your gallery or photos.
And the URL in the yellow box is the website link that you previously downloaded the picture from.

How to reference a written text

From the above picture, the borrowed information is the green mark and the source link is in the yellow mark. However, you will have to attach both sides when writing.

So with the aforementioned, “I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them”.
