Syrian state television reports that Israeli missile strikes have been directed at an army outside the capital Damascus.
The report also stated that the missile strikes were able to curb the attack.
Israeli forces have yet to confirm that they have launched the attack.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OCHA), headquarters of the United Kingdom, said earlier that an explosion near the capital Damascus was reported as a suspected missile attack by Israel.
How much damage has been done so far has not been made clear.
Syria's Head of Human Rights Observatory, Ramire Abdel Rahman, told AFP that the armory had been destroyed by the attack, but that its location was unknown to which party the base was.

  • Israel's warning
Israel has previously targeted weapons stores in order to prevent arms being smuggled to Lebanon by Hezbollah. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the attack was in the south of the city of Damascus in Damascus, south of the capital. Last month, Iran reportedly plans to build a permanent military base near the city. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Nthanyahu warned that in no way would Iran allow Syrian forces to deploy in any way.
