The American Academy of Sleep Medicine established a committee composed of 13 sleep medicine and research experts. After analyzing, discussing, and voting on more than 800 papers, it took 10 months to finally form a recommendation.

  • 4-12 months old: 12-16 hours (including naps and naps)
