Contest | Daily Menu Delicacies Week No. 48 | Spaghetti Bolognese Baked In The Oven 🍝😋
Hello Steemians! Today I want to show you a not-so-popular way to prepare Spaghetti Bolognese, baked in the oven, combining the classic Italian recipe for Bolognese with a unique finish, giving them an even richer flavor and texture.
Here's how you can prepare them step by step:
Required products:
For the Bolognese sauce:
500 g minced meat (pork, beef or mixed)
1 onion
2-3 cloves of garlic
2 carrots
celery, pickles (optional)
400 g tomato puree or pureed tomatoes
100 ml red wine (optional)
2 tbsp. olive oil or vegetable oil
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. sugar (to balance the acidity of the tomatoes)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. dried peppers or chili pepper (optional, if you like it spicy)
1-2 bay leaves
For the pasta:
400 g spaghetti
Salt for cooking the pasta
For the baking:
200 g grated mozzarella
50 g parmesan (or other hard cheese)
Method of preparation:
Preparing the Bolognese sauce
Start by heating the olive oil in a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Finely chop the onion and garlic and add them to the pan. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Cut the carrots and celery into small cubes and add to the pan. Stir regularly until the vegetables are tender. Add the minced meat and fry until it breaks into small pieces and turns golden. Then season with salt and pepper. When the meat is done, add the red wine (if using) and let it evaporate for about 2-3 minutes. Add the tomato puree or pureed tomatoes, sugar, oregano, basil and bay leaves. Stir well. Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce on low heat for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little water or broth.
Prepare the spaghetti:
While the sauce is cooking, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. To do this, boil a large amount of salted water and cook the spaghetti for 8-10 minutes or until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta and reserve a little of the cooking water.
Combine the pasta and sauce:
Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan with the Bolognese sauce. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little of the pasta water to mix well. Stir well so that the pasta is evenly coated with the delicious sauce.
Roast the spaghetti:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (or 160°C fan-forced).
Transfer the pasta with the sauce to a large baking tray.
Scatter the grated mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the spaghetti. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden and crispy.
Serve:
Remove the spaghetti from the oven and leave to cool for a few minutes before serving.
You can garnish with fresh basil or extra grated Parmesan if you like.
This version of spaghetti bolognese is perfect for family dinners and special occasions. It can be served with a glass of red wine and crusty bread or a salad with rocket and Parmesan.
Bon appetit! 🍝😋
